Minion AI movement / Hitbox / Map Design
I leveled 3 other classes to 30 or so upon EA launch, then finally found one I really liked - the Mercenary. I was using Gas Grenade, but after the huge nerfs - I am stuck at T11 maps bc defenses for the class are garbage.
Then I tried Infernalist, going with Arsenalists for dmg, life stacking, ES, maybe eventually moving into Zealots Oath. I'm cruising through the Atlas campaign, currently juicing t14 maps with relative ease. I've died maybe once per tier of progression. Most of my deaths are due to the title of this thread. Some maps have narrow corridors that prevent minions from properly moving. They get stuck and despawn, or they cant get in to position to attack. You'd think minions would be good for tight maps like these, as it makes it easier for minions to body block mobs and also funnels them into central spaces for damage, but no, the despawning and terrible minion AI make tight maps horrible to run. I decided to make this post after failing the T4 Sekhemas (suckmya$$) like 4 times in a row. I have ~10.5k honour. I've made it to T4 with almost all (95%+) of that honour every run. Every run, I get off-screened by casters and exploders that my minions cant target, or my minions get stuck behind and despawn, so I'm left defenseless when mobs run at me. These terrible design elements makes this character much less enjoyable to play. Last bumped on Dec 31, 2024, 3:43:31 PM
