Make ascendancies FOR THE ASCENDANCY CLASS
The whole "one size fits all" thing is pretty lazy development TBH...
If I'm a witch and specializing (ascending) into necromancer then why would I do the same ascendancy as a warrior specializing in titan as a tank? There should be an ascendancy trial for each individual ascendancy class and every single one should be different in very specific ways that test the strengths of that class/build. That's how it should be. Some examples: Warriors shouldn't have to run from being hit for 1.5 minutes in order not to lose "honour". They should have to walk through a gauntlet of traps that tests their regen and armor. A necro witch should have to have their minions and ONLY their minions beat up on a boss and take it down before a timer expires. A monk should have to dodge through traps while attacking mobs. Just some ideas, but the whole "it's all the same for everyone" thing was lazy when they did it in POE 1 and it didn't get any less lazy to just port over that idea to POE 2. This could genuinely be a good game with some serious changes. Visit my Steam profile here: https://steamcommunity.com/id/TheBaconOverlord/ Last bumped on Dec 31, 2024, 6:42:01 PM

That... wouldn't work well. Witches exist that don't go into pets. Warriors exist that like to hit stuff hard. Heck, Chronomancers like to hit stuff with a hammer. And there are plenty of people who will pick a class for an ascendancy and then play with something that is associated with its neighbor, like making a monk that uses a bow.
Really, the big issue currently is that players basically view the ascendancy as the class. It's what you pick to play, even if it takes a little bit before you can use it, and so they want access to them as soon as possible. Meanwhile, GGG seems to think of them as some special perk, and therefore wants to lock them behind trials. It's a fundamental disconnect, and, quite frankly, I think GGG is in the wrong. |
