Can we please have a REAL crafting system in place? Slamming orbs is RNG not crafting.

Ive tried to figure out what could be a fix or a good rework to crafting system to make it feel good and.. I think I found it.

Instead of slamming your orbs for pure RNG outcome how about give us back the crafting bench with deterministic outcome. You want T1-3 of a certain stat well you need 3DIV orbs, 10EX etc to craft it and it could then roll from T1-3 range. Also what is the tier system in the new POE.. it so confusing.. Is Tier11 max? Nobody knows.. why was this change needed? Atleast in old POE when you got a drop and you checked as a NEW player or old player "Oh its T6 roll.. ok its a mid roll" but now "Its a T3 roll.. well what the f is the max? T9? T15? T1562543?"

Fully agree.
The max is different for each item and each stat, so you will need to have your spreadsheet handy with all the tiers listed.

This isn't even crafting atm its just gacha. Deleting scours and alterations was the biggest mistake they ever did, there is no crafting system without those. Same for the bench and its metamods that cost divine orbs.

And the mod tier rankings being reversed makes no sense, now you never know if there's a higher tier than what you have on your item.(which may be intentional, to make people have more playtime and farm for that item that "could be better", if so that's just a sad way of trying to make player engagement metrics rise. Something Blizzard would do with WoW, something akin to time-gating, that's actually just sad).

Just reverse it, T1 should always be the best mod. That makes sense. This current system doesn't.
Honestly its terrible. Probably the most unfun "crafting" system I've ever experienced in any type of game and made even worse if you are SSF. Of course the sweat lords will just try and tell you you're doing it wrong. But even the "slightly" deterministic part of it like using Essences is still RNG, just within a smaller subset of stat probabilities.

The only thing you have any agency over and know exactly what you're getting is Runes or Soul Cores, but then you can't remove or overwrite them. And I wouldn't even call them part of crafting because it just modifies an existing piece of gear.

I don't care if it needs to be very rare items, or certain tasks you need to do to acquire the items, but there should be a way to at least deterministically choose ~3 or more of the stats I want on an item.

It's all about time invested and if the game is respecting my time. I would rather grind/farm for 20 hours to build up and craft a piece 1 of gear I get to choose the stats and feel like I have an impact on the outcome of the item, then to grind for 20+ hours hoping I win the RNG lottery.

Well the good thing is this is just the version 0.1.0.
The wierd thing is that how did they not learn from RUTHLESS?
Guess they wanted live guinea pigs :P im sure they will change it in the upcoming months.

2025 gonna be pretty nutty.. I expect decent patches every week or atleast like two major patches of balance and new content to be added to the endgame, plus the full release in July.

You're clearly not new to GGG...

All the broken mechanics they had in POE 1 have been ported to POE 2... even the broken trading system they bandaided with a third-party website came over to POE 2 instead of a proper AH.

They still have exp penalties...

It's not that they don't "learn", they are just very stubborn and treat their games like a passion project instead of making them "fun".

+1 Bring back the crafting bench

EDIT: IMO, PoE2's current crafting system is eerily reminiscent of D4's tempering/masterworking mechanic. Especially the feeling that it left me with afterwards which was 98% of the time: "WTF" lol.

I grew tired of bricking item after item there... At least D4 dropped more loot/currency for me to brick! XD (spoiler alert: its a joke, I am not going back to D4 - ever).

I am sure they will improve crafting over time (I hope).

Also, using currency on crafting here feel like a scam.

I already know that certain affixes are much more rare than others, but from what I tested today, chaos orbs will often target those rare affixes much more often than the crappy ones. So it's not just a cassino, for me it felt like a rigged roulette game.

I felt this after wasting about 10 high level Rattling Scepters with spirit or + minion levels on them. For me, chaos orbs just targeted those things MUCH more frequently than others. If someone can confirm this, than for me it's the proof we have a shitty designed game with scumbags of developers not worth of my time anymore.

Also, Divine Orbs are useless. No chance of rerolling tiers from affixes, just the numbers. It is there solely for being used on trade.

And as trading is already dominated by bot farmers and scalpers (as it happens with EVERY GAME FOCUSED ON TRADING), for any average player, getting an upgrade to your gear is just ridiculous now, and will get much worse in time.

So, if this is their "vison" for endgame content, for me, I'm just gonna look for something else to do. Not coming back for another "season" in any way. I already had Diablo IV screwing all classes and disappointing players on a ARPG to waste my time on.

Bye
I can appreciate what they seem to be doing by making normal/magic items with good rolls feel more valuable and have more reason to grab to craft with them instead of ignoring as trash but the system really isn't rewarding enough to craft in my opinion. Why bother trying to roll an item to replace my gear when leveling when I can just buy a piece better than I'll ever roll by farming.
Puttu g in orb spamming makes items worth less but is FAR more rewarding

Edit:Also crafting really needs an interactive tutorial. People didn't like poe1 because of "how many systems there were" when in reality I think they ment to say there was no ramp to learn these systems. I want complexity presented in a simple way for the average player but also appeals to the grinding player
