Game crashes during temple of chaos runs feel aweful
Even in mapping the instance is saved and restored when the game crashes. Not in temple and I'm pretty sure not in trials either. It does not return you to the instance and it eats your inscribed ultimatum / key, and all the time you spent in the run is wasted.
I know early access, but just as a point of feedback, it would be really nice if a crash could be detected where the instance state can be saved and and restored to within a short time. At least for now the game doesn't seem to crash that often... Worst case they fix whatever is making the crashes occur, but still, a way restore these in the event of a crash would be really nice. I will also note that I find it somewhat odd that when the game crashes it doesn't mention it upon restart or make any visible attempt to send a crash report home. I would imagine GGG would want crash reports when something like this happens. Does it happen silently and automatically? Or are they just not getting any live crash report data? Unfortunately, this game is still highly in BETA.
Early Access would imply it's actually "finished", and we just have access to the product. They don't even have half the game developed at this point, and have had significant regression from POE 1. With ~10 years of experience, this game wouldn't be a step backward. I've crashed multiple times in Temple - on stage 10 - just this morning, twice in a row. No input on what caused the crash. Just... frozen and close. At this point, I assume the game needed cash flow and released for such. "Free to play"... It's baffling to me they wouldn't want the crash data to improve and see what is causing issues. But alas, here we are. The popularity spike will slowly dimish, and then go back up/down when they release new content. In my unprofessional opinion, this game needed another year of development before being released, but cash is king. |
