Trial Rework Suggestion

What are ascendancies for? To prove character power and enhance special abilities to unlock the true potential of your class, right? Currently we're using trials to unlock these ascendancies. What if the trials operated based on character achievements?

Like POE1's league challenges, each ascendancy can be designed to have a set list of challenges that are specific to the type of content that each class is expected to encounter. For example, if you're a blood mage, one challenge could be to "gather 1 million blood orbs" or something.

There could be a small list of basic achievements you need to make before getting your first ascendancy, like mob kills, surviving without death for a number of kills, being a specific level, allocating a certain number of skill points, activating a number of game mechanics, etc.

The higher tiers of the ascendancy can ramp up the difficulty in the challenges to include number of map boss kills, clearing certain level map tiers, using currency items, killing mobs with your ascendancy mechanic, etc.

It treats ascendancies as a goal that you can progress through, rather than an RNG chance encounter or one that you simply buy your way through in 20 seconds. It gives earning ascendancies meaning, like each individual character had to earn the ascendancy themselves and done so in a way that it feels like an achievement.
