Feedback after many hours played up to t12 maps.
So there is a lot to love about this game, just like PoE 1. So please do not take this negative feedback as an indicator that i hate the game or like nothing about the game. There is a lot more I love about the game than hate. However, this will be a recap of the things that i think GGG can improve to make the game more fun from my perspective.
Crashing and overall performance: I know this is EA and as such, I expect this will be worked on but this should be an urgent priority. Its currently absurd how often the game crashes. Open a new map? Crash. Play x amount of time with Direct X 12, crash. Open new Ascendency floor, crash. Whats more is I didnt use to crash too often when I started playing and changed my settings to Vulcan (despite having terrible fps with vulcan) but over time, the crashes are more and more frequent. Im not going over troubleshooting here, there are tons of posts for that which I followed but clearly, there is a serious urgent need here for some work. Mapping - 1 death per map: I think that 1 death per map is problematic for a number of reasons. If you die due to a lag spike (especially during EA), you are done. it just feels bad. But maybe more importantly, if you map with a friend and one of you die, you are just no longer able to do anything until they are done. So it makes mapping as a group much less fun or even worthwhile. I meant to map with a friend but we quickly just went back to solo mapping. Atlas and grouping: Maybe less problematic but still, grouping makes you decide who's atlas you will work on. One thing I havent tested is if at least you unlock the quests from doriani if you work on your teammates maps (i.e. complete 8 tier 4, 5, etc). Melee state: So far, what I have noticed is that melee felt just plain bad. Slow and sluggish. Armor not being great, etc. Lots of improvement can be made for melee to at least feel better. Movement Skills: Like melee, im noticing that movement skills tend to be sluggish and just meh. End game content: Mapping starts getting fairly dull fairly quick and im still not sure how to find those special towers im looking for. havent "lucked" out yet and randomly go in the direction of one. This might be something not too clear for me or maybe its just something that needs work. Im just leaving it here as a me problem for now. I also understand that end game content is probably still being developed so this is probably pretty minor. Economy / Currencies: It seems like there is both a will to make crafting more accessible but at the same time, I dont think the game is quite there yet. I am not sure what is missing but there is definitely something missing because its usually just best to check the trade site rather than try to craft much earlier on. Later on, same thing but maybe more opportunity to craft to make profit (when you finally own more EX to dispose of). Gems: not super sure how much I like the fact that support gems can only be used for one skill and not multiple considering how many gems are critical while others are just meh. Maybe this will resolve itself by injecting more and more gems in the game over time or maybe there should be some flexibility here. Also about gems, I see some gems, especially caster gems, having vastly stronger quality modifiers than other gems, mostly melee gems where the quality barely does anything. Again, im sure its just ongoing balance over time but wanted to point it out here anyways as a current problem. Definitely need a few more special tabs for maps and for other currencies found in maps. But yah, thats about all my issues right now outside of just adding content and balancing stuff. Crashing being the one right now that kind of makes me hesitate to play because its just tedious. The rest are pretty much in order of importance as well.
