Was this death justified?

Felt like this death was unjustified. Essentially a tier 13 map lvl 78 area expedition map. I had 2.6k effective health, full resists except 54% chaos. Maybe 2% in the AoE of the spell and it one shots me so it obviously does full damage if it hits you at all.

Animation on the spell is horrible too, almost invisible for the first second of the cast.

Maybe they should make this spell a bit more obvious when it one shots you like this?

Just my 2 cents, I was getting one shot left, right, and center when I had ~2.5k energy shield (and also like no resists lol). was a little glass cannon :) . I die way less now at ~6k (and grim feast is great, it doubles max energy shield over time as you kill stuff)
What were the map and expedition modifiers?

If you die to something like this it's almost always because of a choice you made beforehand.

We've had 3+ death videos that included expedition so far and every time they picked penetration/multiple damage mods.
Looks like they were these:

Area contains 29% increased number of Runic Monster markers
48% increased explosive placement range
Area contains 18% increased number of monster markers

Wait, do the little remnants I pick apply to all monsters that spawn?

If so that was likely the issue, I see I did multiple gain +75% damage as chaos damage and +100% damage as extra cold damage

% damage as element is always deadly if you don't have a tanky enough build or enough clearspeed to kill before they can attack
yeah I see I need to keep my eye out when I have like 18 of those remnnants explosions being detonated. First time I had that many and I tried to open everything lol. Next time I'll be skipping multiple damage multipliers
Nope, this death is not justified. Its not about the remnant modifier, but the 200ms reaction time and the "white-on-white" colour of the explosion. Players should be able to counterplay this explosion by simply moving away from it, but the time window needed and the colouring of the effect creates arbitrary difficulty and lead you to believe otherwise.

Also if you slowed the video, this guy character is clearly have his legs outside of the explosion but about maybe 30% of his upper body region still in the explosion radius because of the dodge animation. and yet still getting hit by the explosion. What are the logics of the hitbox here ?
I would agree the spell being nearly invisible for the first second of the cast was extremely unfair.

However as stated earlier I choose way too many damage modifiers from the expedition remnants so if I just chilled on those I would have likely survived.

Also you make a good point, the roll did seem to put me just outside of the explosion radius.

If they just made it so the spell did 100% damage in the middle of the spell radius, maybe 66% damage on the inner two thirds of the radius, and like 33% damage on the outer third of the spell that would likely be more fair too.
