Can't access trials of sekhemas after getting to maps.

Yesterday I finished the campaign and started my first few maps. I had heard you can do the third ascension and get all of the points from the previous two so I ignored the trials in the campaign, but I may have killed balbala in the first act 2 without picking up the quest barya. Now that I felt ready to do the third I went back act two and killed balbala, potentially for the second time, and no barya dropped (to be more accurate it dropped visually and then despawns when the loot text boxes appear). The cruel act 2 balbala dropped a barya(non quest item) when I killed it for the first time, but this didn't unlock the option to take my caravan to trials. Now neither caravan has the option on the desert map to go to the trials of sekhemas, I don't have the way point and neither balbala will drop a barya which seems to be what is necessary to unlock the travel on the desert map. I may have dropped the quest barya in a different zone(i.e. pick it up and realize I don't need it later and drop it in halani gates), but I don't think I picked it up. It appears at this point this character can't access trials of sekhemas.

I can confirm I'm experiencing the same issue. I picked up and dropped the quest Barya item in Act 2, and now the desert map does not allow travel to the Trials of Sekhemas. The quest Barya also did not drop when I went back to Cruel Act 2. I had to complete the Ultimatum to obtain my Ascendancy instead.

Is there currently any solution to this? I still couldn't access the trial on my character...
