Galvanic Shards vs ANY other Crossbow skill.
Why does Galvanic Shards massively outperform every other Xbow projectile Skill Gem?
I'm fully invested in all physical dmg/projectile dmg nodes on the passive tree, yet I still can't get any other skill to come close to the performance of Galvanic Shards. The only skill that is even close is the regular crossbow shot skill, which is just absurd. Did anyone even bother to test this class in maps, and attempt to balance the classes skills against one another? Once I noticed how much better Galv shards is at EVERYTHING, I started speccing points into lightning and elemental dmg on the passive tree and can now use just one skill for every situation. This is not compelling game play. The solution isn't to nerf galv shards into the ground. I would just quit this class if that's what happens since nothing else seems even remotely viable (save a full grenade build) Every other projectile skill need to be reviewed and compared to the performance of Galvanic shards and brought up to par. Both Ballista skills are absolute trash, and serve only as awful distractions for enemy mobs... but the unearth skill gem does a better job at that too. Who the hell reviewed the ballista skills and determined these were good enough? The pin debuff from ripwire ballista is completely ineffective. Artillery ballista still sucks even after the recent patch that supposedly increased its damage. Armor piercing rounds does almost no damage, even when skill gems are added to buff its damage in lieu of buffing its armor breaking. A 4 link High Velocity rounds inexplicably does LESS damage than galv shards on SINGLE TARGET DPS. Even stormblast bolts does almost nothing unless the target is shocked, and even then, its faster to just keep using galv shards than to switch skills and try to get multiple clean shots on the shocked enemy while dodging everything else coming at you at +30% your own move speed. Fragmentation rounds should theoretically do a fuck ton of damage up close but it STILL doesn't compete with Galvanic Shards unless the target is frozen first. Freezing and shattering is a fun gameplay loop, but it doesn't stack up to just using Galv Shards and killing everything in one clip. Hailstorm rounds and siege cascade are useless, Plasma blast is only good to start a fight and then its also useless. The only thing that probably comes close is if I completely respecced my tree and went hard into grenades. MAYBE that would do better than this one skill, but to me that's not compelling gameplay. The skills should be balanced so that if you go hard into phys dmg, your phys dmg skills outperform your elemental damage or grenade skills, and it inexplicably doesn't. Meaning you can start out leveling fine, get through the campaign with a nice mix of skills and a fun gameplay loop, only to get smacked in the face by late game ascendancy trials or maps and realize you need to respec everything into one specific skill in order to continue playing the class.
