Nerfs for some, but not for all
Hey,
I pick up this game in EA because it looked like it was doing a lot that I was wanting out of other games of the genre, and for the most part it has delivered! The feel bads are two fold for me; first your market and player base are toxic, and it sucks to have to get to “end game” in order to enjoy playing and feeling a build come together, that you’ve made it so that these trolls get to gate keep that experience is disheartening. Which leads to my second point. I picked up and started playing this game in part because casting comets on freeze looks soooo fun, and the game before I got to unlock that (basically right before Cruel diff) was fun, but you nerfed the build so that to be a frost mage I would have to have gear I can’t easily acquire except through trading…which I can’t get until I tough it out into endgame. I could have brute forced it and I did for act 1 but it was taking so long to clear a map and I could still die to a one shot. So I respected into the now dominant spark build and it cost a lot of my time and resources, and I still had to deal with the trade people…it should be the case that you can only really build one way to get to the point where you can build how to want, this bottle neck is one you created but nerfing a perfectly looking build in favor of what I don’t know. “Balance”? I think it’s frustrating that you cut off something that was working, maybe better than intended, and fine in a month or so if it’s a big deal come up with something that brings it in line with what other builds are doing. In the mean time just work of making other things better, because my two handed warrior don’t feel good either, because I hit a bottle neck and trails don’t care if you can regenerate your hp you get hit and you loose the honor. My point here is, please undo some of what you’ve nerfed and focus on making so that as many play/build paths get people into endgame as possible and broaden that as much as you can. Do that and I’m sure you’ll have many satisfied players, customers really. I hope this doesn’t fall on closed minds, I really think this game has a lot of potential to be great, and for a long time. Comet was never intended to be a spammable skill. The fact that it could be spammed with Cast on X was a design oversight and was fairly swiftly corrected. And yet, they still let you spam it pretty frequently with Cast on X vs Rare/Unique monsters, which is the only place you realistically need it.
Your feedback about the Warrior could be more valuable though, if you provided any details other than "game hard." |

Don't get too comfortable. Spark is in dire need to get nerfed. It's completely out of control. Once their vacation is over, expect big nerfs.
I find these broken builds unfun. If you decided to respec into yet another broken meta build, sorry to say but you're robbing yourself of a great experience. You're gonna be skipping a lot of boss mechanics that would make the game 100x more enjoyable. |

" ah yes so Comet was the thing that was the only problem ... lets cripple the trigger skills completely instead of, i dont know, putting "spells with base cast time higher than 1.5 seconds cannot be cast by triggers" or tuning the trigger formula to scale energy requirement logarithmically with cast time so that fast spells can be triggered often and slow spells take quite a buildup to use that way ... noo better make everything cost 30x so that all of the trigger spells are basically useless. PS: yo DONT need to spam big AoE against single target ... that was useful for yknow AoE clearing the large packs ... |

" So after blazing through the campaign with Ice Strike Monk I can say with more confidence, Ice Sorc needs help. Even if Ice monk in current state isn’t what builds should look like (and I don’t think that it is, but we’ll see), w/o regular cast of comet the DPS of basic ice skills (bolt, winter orb) can’t keep up, even with expensive unique support. Ice wall is good but again the play is sooooo much slower that it feels completely pointless to play that version at all, especially when it doesn’t offer much better survivability compared to other top meta builds. Killing things faster will nearly always be better than defenses, but when both are on one build /and/ the next best build is 2x-4x slower and less safe, that makes build diversity narrow and less fun for me. But on Comet specifically, it has the same dps on tool tip as just my ice strike, and my monk is 5-7 levels lower level. That’s a problem. Ice strike is way safer to use and more consistent with damage out put. If Comet could be cast faster (it can’t be less than 1 sec) maybe there would be ways to build fun clearing builds with it as a normal cast, but as it stands its not useable in endgame outside Meta gems. Now the warrior; They are both hard to upgrade (especially if you’re trying to dual wield) and incredibly squishy due to armor being garbage-ish rn. Making the requirement for str for Titan’s grip 3x is over kill and makes it unplayable during the campaign and very restrictive during end game. That and not having all the weapons available makes it feel really bad to play anything but a shield setup, which again borrows diversity and is less fun for me. |

" Spark is utter dogpoop until it scales extremely highly (what CCs are showcasing). But CCs clickbait, and CCs also have high-end gear funneled into them by their communities. Your Spark will suck butt. |

That's how it goes.
Overcharged Slam got gutted cause it could 1 shot a boss. Meanwhile there's a plethora of ranged builds that 50 shot a boss in 0.2 seconds. The wind up for Slam took longer than the ranged builds take to kill the boss, yet they are okay until the first league comes out. Further showing that the devs just hate anything melee. To add to this they are clearly going to nerf bleed hammer cause warriors are using it to 1 hit bosses, yet Chronomancers can literally spam upwards of 4+ hammers if their ascendancy procs....but yeah its warriors fault for sure. " i disagree with this. spark is good for all content but bosses from 40k damage. all you need is gaze, writhe, EB and youre good to go. my spark does around 100k rn and thats on an infernalist without demon form (and without buffs). i use it on around 70k for maps with a 180k arc for bosses. took quite some time but no one funneled shit into my account. |
