Can't get hammer after beating Mektul

So Mektul and I killed each other at the same time. I lost the loot as expected but the hammer for the quest still spawned. However, it spawned in the aqueduct which became inaccessible after the fight. The elevator to the arena no longer worked and unless there was another way down that I missed, I was locked out of finishing the quest.
