Addressing mercenary klunk with reloading - theory and testing

Hey everyone I need some help testing something.

I have seen quite a few posts regarding mercenary and its "klunk" feeling when reloading and came across something interesting while testing to see if I experienced it.

And yes I do experience it.. however it only happens in DELERIUM!!

For some reason every time I run a delerium map my character sometimes has a longer reload animation, the time with this delay varies. I tested it in multiple scenarios...

1. In a delerium map in combat - happens some of the time
2. In a delerium map while not in combat and no enemies around - happens some of the time.
3. Ended the delerium encounter, remained in map with no enemies around - still happens some of the time.
4. ported back to hideout and tested it - happens NONE of the time.
5. returned to said map and tested it - happens some of the time.
6. ran a different map with no delerium encounter - happens NONE of the time.
7. ran another delerium map - problem re-occurs.

Now i know this may not explains everyones problem with mercenary's "klunk" and it COULD be an issue with me only, but i would like someone else to test this for me and see if they have the same problem, at least to see If i am just going insane.

I would also mention I checked the map modifiers also and each time there was nothing that would cause this, checked the state of my character and found no issue including making sure I had no debuffs that would cause this and found nothing.

Again if anyone could confirm this for me I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Further information:

Ran a map with both Ritual AND expedition active and ran into this issue again.

I have discovered button mashing the fire button while moving sometimes causes the delay, however standing still while mashing the fire button does not cause it.

Tested this in hideout and it happens but it is barely noticeable.

So it could be related to league content but now im starting to think there is an input issue, too many inputs at once could be contributing to the klunk.. or all of the above.
I am so happy that there are some other people here that are looking for stuff and suggesting things that could end up fixing the game instead of raging.

Thank you, kind merc player.
Update:

1. This is now far more obvious with less reload speed.
2. It is more consistent when there is more going on in the map especially delerium.
3. Time between delay varies even more so with less reload speed.
4. Sometimes when I change ammo types it immediatly switches back to the previous ammo type by itself essentially causing me to fire an ammo type I did not intend to fire.

Will add more as I discover more.

If anyone has any to add please do so, I am hoping to start a discussion on this so we can figure this out, I dont believe the cause is unique to the mercenary. It is just more obvious due to how the mercenary plays.
Just jumping in to say this needs looked into more. I use mainly galv shards, no grenades, only crossbow ammunition type attacks really.

What I've found personally is the weird reload animations, severely lowered attack speed being stuck forever, and missed ammo swaps going back to previously loaded rounds etc seem tied to my machine performance somehow. The more effects are on screen (especially if I have 2-3 rare mob explosions happen in rapid succession and tank my FPS)the more likely I am for the rest of the map to experience some of this odd behavior. At least that's the feeling I get, I haven't really tested this thoroughly at all. Could be related since delerium kinda messes with my framerate a bit. It's nothing compared to breach, but its noticeable.

I also run into it more like you said in situations when I'm firing a few rounds, stop holding left click, and then fire again after a short delay. Or when I'm trying to 1-2 round burst every second or so to walk and screen clear. This occasionally locks me in to some sort of state where my attack speed feels about half of what it normally is and I'm more likely to be stuck unable to fire after a reload mid pack.

Due to this I near constantly reload between packs even after firing only a few rounds, because if I have been clearing in this manner and need to start firing more consistently that first reload is very likely to animation lock in an odd way forcing me to move for a bit before I can fire.

I tested if it was tied to framerate but it seems to be the same regardless if im pulling 60fps or 100fps (changed graphical settings to achieve different framerates)

However interestingly I just had a situation where my character didnt bother auto-reloading the clip for 6 seconds until the game suddenly realised "oh that hasnt happened, better do it"

I must stress I had full control of my character at the time and my clip counter was 0 so there was indeed a need to reload the clip. This confirms to me that it is a game issue however I have no idea what is causing it, from what I can see there is no reason why my character needs to wait that long before reloading.

Its almost as if the auto-reload command is stuck in some sort of buffer in the backend.
Also encountered this problem when playing around with Mercenary on early levels.

Character sometimes refusing to reload, and I have to switch ammos back and forth.

Additional shitfuckery if you add a cooldown to an ammo type. It starts the cooldown every time you interact with it, be it shooting, reloading or even just swapping to it. Thankfully it seems the game itself recognizes between states the cooldown started on, so if you started the cooldown with a reload, you still can shoot during it (but obviously won't be able to realod it again untill cd end). It is however rather confusing.
