Magic Find was solved in PoE1 Settlers - why reintroduce it in PoE2?

Rarity on gear is undermining build diversity. It creates fear of missing out to play the game without it.

Rewards should scale with difficulty of the content. In settlers league, MF was effectively wiped out, and everyone was happy about it. I was quite confused how it found its way into PoE2.

IIQ was gone in PoE1 IIR is still there

IIR (unless it has changed in PoE2) only modifies the rarity of the dropped items, at the extreme high end it means more uniques over all, but even with more rares the chances you'll get something good is still pretty rare.

So this is a player misunderstanding and perception issue.

In PoE2 even currency items are affected by MF, so it is even more important than before. And based on the feedback of people actually using rarity gear in PoE2 right now, it has notable effect even with small investment.

it doesn't add anything to the game but trouble.

Yes it effects currency in POE2. The system is a bit different.

But,

I disagree with it being an issue, much less "more important than before" and the reason it was looked at during its abuse days was not the rarity/IQ itself but the mechanics that stacked up on top of it, including a hidden modifier that is now gone, that created loot explosions.

We saw this in Affliction with the wildwood having a huge modifier on quant/currency/rarity and then you had the hidden multiplicative modifier that created disgusting loot explosions, with multiple stacks of divines, T0 uniques and so on.

So for me in POE2, Rarity.... I dont see the issue. As long as they dont have these types of systems they implement at least.

I realize Ziz just put out a video about it as well, but I will disagree with him, as he talks about "players feel forced..." and its an argument that matters on the magnitude.

Rarity just isnt that high in magnitude.

As opposed to what we are experiencing with current ES numbers.

But we just gotta wait for the holidays to be over to see what they do.

settlers eliminated much more than that, you would do some silly mobileesque minigames to get loot, hell you could even turn maps into loot directly. rip poe1 lol

People that suffer from fomo should seek professional help and not ask game designers to change a game!

Magic find in general is some boomer game design and nothing would make me happier, as a gen x'er to see it go away forever.
Problem is the longer this is going on with already poeple farming like crazy in leven 15 / 16 / 17+ maps with max Rarity is wrecking economy.

These people are not running away from the rest of the playerbase, they are racing away from the average playerbase who is still leveling and smelling the flowers.

Lucky this isnt a pvp game oir this launch would have been a massive disaster.
It is kind of funny how the patches they introduced loot converting mobs, tryhards abused them so much the general loot was almost unplayable for normal players. I expect the same thing will happen in poe2 once ggg adjusts it so players are expected to have a lot of investment into iir.
