What's up with PoE2 negativity?

I played PoE1 for roughly..15 hours. Other games had my attention but just a quick question.

Why all the negativity with this game? One thing I put into perspective with my experience is that GGG is notoriously known to make a great game..such as PoE1. They received feedback, listen to the community, and overall make a great experience. Why doubt their abilities for PoE2 when the game is still in Early Access and has not even been out 1 month. Look at their track record for PoE1 and understand they are in this for the long haul. I believe they even said PoE2 would not be for everyone (I think). The expectations were super high I would assume from the community but overall its a great game.

After my experience with PoE1, I did in fact play D4 and enjoyed it until it got boring as hell endgame. When I heard PoE2 was coming out, I was intrigued just because of how much I enjoyed D4 and even PoE1. I knew the reputation GGG and PoE had regarding endgame, progression, etc. and I loved the thought of giving PoE "in general" the time again.

I'm a level 54 Monk and I'm having a blast. Haven't been hooked like this in a while. I have not made it to endgame yet so maybe I am a bit biased with no experience for the endgame but I just don't get all the negativity. I understand the bias and perspective of OG veteran players I really do...but give it some time. Nothing great happens overnight and sustaining longevity I believe is their goal.

TLDR; Great company making a great games, has the track record, PoE2 still in early access, listening to the community, give the game some time to breath and work out the tweaks, understanding of multiple perspectives, be a chill guy.

it's because campaign was good (especially act1, was extremely good). But most complains starts after campaign finished and players step into the maps.
Despite some overtuning the campaign is a great experience.

Maps, however, are a completely different beast entirely. The 3rd and 4th ascendancy points are a royal pain. The game goes back to being entirely speed based. Add in the fact that the market had a massive shift and it adds up to a bad endgame experience.
Engame maps with the dead penalty 10% and if you die your map is gone

see if you still like it :)

love the game but hate those two mechanics
You like it because your a fanboy Goop. I like it>>>> But. The drops SUCK. Period. Everything about it is geared for SSSSLLLOOWWW leveling. No drops. Can't buy convert anything early. No easy mode? So rookies just feel gimped till like 15- 20. Slog fest while learning. Only for the elite group of streamer follower builds. A yellow!! I almost lost it. Found it was a dex drop. So on we go slog. can't experiment with NO drops. can't BUY early.
Yes I am playing the game. But for the pain lovers. More power to ya. Me time is precious and pain is not my thing.
Shit drops

Losing maps on death is just a time wasting mechanic

Rare mobs/Magic mobs are not easily identified at a glance since we removed outlines, meaning I gotta scan each pack in a map to make sure it isn't modifiers that one shot me

Most deaths are mobs taht drop random shit on the ground after death that is hard to see

Map retention weak

Multiple drastic build changes that left people with a broken character they cannot fix after random nerf hammers

All movement skills removed in favor of dodge roll which changed the bossing from Flame Dashing/Leap Slamming, etc around in circles to all classes rolling in circles

Bosses have some dragged out HP and then added invuln mechanics on top of it

Ascendancy changes suck, Lab was better in every aspect other than it wasn't "new"

Campaign is even more bloated now requiring 20-30 hours to try a new build since many major skills are t14, which starts at maps

Map sizes feel 2x-3x as large but only source of movement speed is boots or a very rare unique meaning it's just more tediousness.

List goes on.

Devs don't want to make an ARPG, they wanted to make Elden Ring, and they made a mishmash of both that fails to be better than either.

it's because the arpg playerbase is among the worst in this industry when it comes to feedback. they can also be super helpful when the stars align, but when it comes to negativity, they don't hold back

People who enjoy the game dont normally go to forums to say how good it is, people who are upset do in droves. There is some genuine feedback but maybe 10% of people. Steam chart player retention will tell you more than anything you read here or reddit.

So I ripped 383 times. I’ve lost many cool maps due to 1 portal only mechanic. Got angry many times on 3rd ascendancy fail (few days ago I told to myself I will never do it again)… but:
Now I can do 3rd ascendancy super easy, I’m lvl 84 and my build is pretty cool now. You need everyday farm currency, it is not that hard! Exalt drop is high. Then buy or craft better gear and that’s it!

Says they have lost over 35% of players and the rate is only heavily accelerating every day (its holidays AND a weekend right now) with sentiment starting to lean negatively in online reactions. Couple this with the fact POE2 is not a game that is a 1 and done, its model relies HEAVILY on players being decade long users returning every league to buy new supporter packs, you know...That thing that let them get to the point where they could make this game.

GGG just made their diablo 3 and its about as good as d3 was to d2. Not so smug now in their tweets, im sure Jay Wilson is getting a good laugh right now.
