Game Crashing and PC Freezing!!!!

Hello, good night, i bought the game, this week, 4 days ago, and everytime i try to play it, the game crashes with all my computer, everytime i try to change maps, even tho my computer is better than the minimun recomended specs, and when im playing i have more than 60 fps (65 being the average), so, i wish to find a solution bcs clearly isnt the computer, and for further knowing i use the Windows 11.
I really want to enjoy the game but i cant play like this, im just not allowed to play even tho paying for it.

I am experiencing the same problem.

For me the game usually crashes during loading screen in between zones.

I am running the game on PC with following spec:
- Windows 11 Pro version 24H2
- Nvidia GeForce 4080 Super - driver 566.36
- AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core Processor
- 32GB RAM

The game crashes in first 30 minutes of gameplay sometime as soon as returning to town after cleaning first zone of monsters.

I have tried:
- reinstalling nvidia driver
- Use Windows installation client instead of steam client
- alow nvidia screen size scaling
- running PackCheck.exe did find and repair something when I ran it last night but it did not fix the creashes.

At first the crashes were only occuring once every 2 hours but over time it got way worse. CUrrently the game is crashing too often to be playable.

Dev team of PoE2 - Please reach out and let me know how I can help with further investigation of the issue. At the current state I can§t play the game at all and I'd like to know what are my options while it is still possible to ask for a game refund.

Thanks a milion. Except for the crashes the game is awesome and I'd love to play it more once this problem will get fixed.

So after a bit more testing I have found out that in my case the culprit is likely an ingame setting "Upscale mode".

Originaly I had it set to "Nvidia DLSS" and the game was crashing.
I have changed that to "NIS (Default)" and since then I have experienced no crashes of the game (50 minutes of playtime so far - still testing)

I hope this helps narrowing down the root cause and getting a fix :)

That Hard Freeze is so fucking annoying...

I'm experiencing the same thing. It's something in the config because when I delete the file and it creates a fresh one, it works fine. Turned on HDR and then it started crashing. So the next time I turned HDR back off, but it still crashed. Doing a full reinstall now.

If it's happening during the load screen and takes down your whole PC you can watch the process in task manager, it'll take up 100% of cpu. I've worked around the issue by right clicking the process (pathofexile.exe), Select 'set affinity' and I had to remove access it gets to 2 cores (out of 5). So far no crashes, although it did crash when I only removed one.

Something I noticed when I tried just now was that I deleted my config file and started the game up with default settings. Only settings I changed was my controls (WASD). I was able to move around in game fine. The exact moment I clicked my mouse button is when it freezes and then crashes.

There is another post about the Power Siphon wand. As soon as I removed that from being equipped, I was able to left click in game again.
