Weapon Set Skill Points Are Confusing
Anyone just not using them til higher level?
Feeling confused when I try to use them and then I cant allocate my normal Passive points Is there a downside to NOT using them? They are for sure confusing and I'm still figuring them out a bit.
So they can help in situations where you otherwise might not have quite enough passive points to use if you're using different damage-y mechanics. Like I'm running that warcry corrupting cry build that's going around and it uses them. So 1 passive set is a bunch of warcry related passives, and the other passive set is all totem damage related passives. So when I weapon swap to my +6 melee skill totem weapons, it automatically swaps out my warcry passives for the totem passives; because I don't need bonuses to warcries as I'm setting totems down and vice versa. In terms of allocation, basically you can either allocate a passive point normally or you can click on one of the weapon set passive options and allocate that passive point in 2 different places for 2 different weapon sets. So if you have weapon set points available, you still need an actual normal passive point to correspond with it, that's basically just a number that tells you how MANY of your passive points you can use as weapon set points. So you could like, have one wand with a bunch of lightning damage and another wand with a bunch of fire and ignite damage. You could then use some of your passive points for lightning damage nodes on 1 set, and fire damage nodes on other set so you get more bang for your buck with damage! I would stick to not using them for now and maybe once you play another class, you will want to incorporate skill from builds you previously played.
It is hard to use them right now because of 2 reasons. Firstly not many people are aware of abilities, synergies and damage scaling that other classes have. Secondly the classes and weaponsets that utilize same stats are not in the game yet. Only witch & sorc share stats and side of tree they prefer, but it is awkward mixing minion weaponset with spell weaponset due to spirit requirements. |

The whole weapon swap thing I think is poorly done, it may enable some good builds but for now too much hassle.
Most worthwhile thing you can get out of weapon swapping is having blink as an aura on set 2, but you have to press swap+dodge, yuck. They might as well give you a "slower" blink spell that has zero spirit cost, I mean it's just UI tax at this point, like id items. |

" Definitely agree that they should allow blink to be rebound to a regular skill key, that way you could use automatic skill swapping. Blink is kind of a fringe case though, for most other skills the automatic weapon swapping on skill use has worked decent for me. Albeit it's a little slow as you have to wait for the actual swap animation, but everything else in POE2 is slowed down so it doesn't feel as bad |

Thanks for the replies! I think I have it figured out better.
I may not have a use for the points at all, but it wont hurt my build Multi-Demi Winner

" It's a great post, and GGG has a history of not be clear about game mechanics. Check this out: As any class (say Warrior), you can build a passive tree around the ranged skill "Molten Blast" by building a faster attack / dual wielding weapon set with elemental damage affixes! Then you put all those weapon set passives into improved projectile damage and its supporting effects, like chaining and piercing.... Then, with your other weapon set, you carry a sword and board, max armour and block chance, and place all the passives into likewise. That way you can tank anything once its in melee range. Basically, GGG is allowing you to play more than one build per character now. |
