Atlas Tree Passives being gated behind Bosses.
Hi, im a long-time Poe1 player and enjoyer of even harder Content in games.
I want to talk about the Atlas Tree being gated behind Bosses. In practice you have to farm a ton of the content that you want to spec into to get an Invitation for the matching boss. In order to get profit you need to defeat the Boss. So either you buy it or farm for a long time. Since everyone needs these invitations they get very expensive very fast. Also you only get 1 shot at killing the boss otherwise you loose a ton of money or time invested. This feels VERY discouraging. The Poe 1 System of acquiring the Passive points seems like a better solution then letting experienced players and rather new players compete for invitations that everyone needs. Also having only 1 portal at a Boss you have never seen before just to get insta killed by something you had no time to learn. You are practily forced to watch guides before you go in any new bossfight. The solution for this is obviously having more Portals for Pinnacle fights. I completely agree with the OP. After spending over 10 hours using Delirium/Ritual tablets and fully engaging with this mechanic, I’ve made zero progress in the end-game progression tied to it. The difficulty of accessing these encounters is frustrating, and even when you do manage to reach them, you're given only one attempt.
I’d much prefer a system where engaging with the end-game mechanic directly contributes to progressing its specific atlas tree, with bosses serving as major payoffs rather than gatekeepers. Additionally, the 'one life per map' rule feels unnecessarily punishing. If the intention is to limit attempts, tying it to the number of portals (e.g., six portals = six lives) would be a much fairer system. |
