Poison-burst-Arrow-Question

My question is:
Does the arrow itself do damage or just the poison-burst?

I thought, the arrow didnt do damage and was only there to apply poison. But fighting a few bigger bosses it feels, like the initial hit would take down some good portion of health, and then the poison kicks in...

Is my poison just that strong atm or was I wrong and I really have a dps-projectile with this skill, too?

the initial hit does physical damage which scales the poison damage. added chaos damage wont work because the initial hit would need to be chaos instead of physical.

wither / -to chaos res (despair) scales the damage higher tho.

follow-up question: chaos-dmg doesnt scale poison-magnitude?

I thought, it was 20% of phys- and chaos-damage dealt?
