Eldrich battery and The Everlasting gaze azure amulet doesnt work properly together

Hello GGG Support Team, I’d like to report a potential bug involving the interaction between the Eldritch Battery keystone node and The Everlasting Gaze (Azure Amulet). Issue Description: When Eldritch Battery is allocated, it converts your entire Energy Shield into Mana, leaving you with no Energy Shield as a defensive layer. This is the normal and intended behavior. However, after equipping The Everlasting Gaze (Azure Amulet), an Energy Shield layer reappears despite Eldritch Battery’s effect. This contradicts the expected outcome where no Energy Shield should remain. Expected Behavior: With Eldritch Battery allocated, there should be no Energy Shield left. Equipping The Everlasting Gaze should not restore any portion of the Energy Shield. Steps to Reproduce: Allocate the Eldritch Battery keystone in the passive skill tree. Confirm that all Energy Shield has been converted into Mana (no ES present). Equip The Everlasting Gaze (Azure Amulet). Observe that an Energy Shield layer now appears, which should not happen. Thank you for your time and attention. Best regards, Skubol Last edited by skubol#5389 on Dec 19, 2024, 4:25:19 AM Last bumped on Jan 9, 2025, 1:15:25 AM

As far as I understand, this is intended behaviour. The reason is that only one conversion mechanic (which includes "gain X as extra Y" mechanics) can affect a resource at any given time. So the ES gained from mana can't be further converted.
The same thing happens with Eldritch Battery and the Ghostwrithe unique armour. Ghostwrithe converts life to ES, which will not be further converted to mana by EB. |

It is said that The Everlasting Gaze also gives 10k ES instead of the calculated amount.
I dont have 4 divines to try it but since a no level/lvl 1 amulet is 4 divines it is very probable that it is bugged and an abusable item. |

They must know about this as its the one defensive layer all stormweaver sorcs are using so i think its intended.
Its only the only reason the necklace is so expensive. |

I think the high price is due to the popularity of the mana stacker archetype. Getting a 20-30% ehp boost (assuming you use Mind over Matter) from your ammy slot is quite big. If you don't use MoM then the boost is potentially even bigger percentage wise

I managed to chance the ammy (1st try xD) and what was surprising to me is that damage is taken from ES before mana, if you have MoM and EB active. So ES -> mana -> life. I actually expected it to be mana -> ES -> life.

Not a bug. If you view the Eldritch Battery node in the passive skill tree and hover over the word "convert" it clearly states that the conversion only applies to your base ES. It means that it converts ALL of your base ES. That doesn't stop items from converting life to energy shield after the fact, which is what happens in this case.
So order of operations as intended is: 1. Base ES is converted to mana by Eldritch Battery 2. Ghostwrithe or Atziri's Disdain convert life to ES 3. Everlasting Gaze adds ES based on base mana 4. Percentage increases from skill nodes are then applied to both ES and mana These are intended interactions which many people have mistakenly interpreted as a bug because they haven't read the "convert" tooltip on the Eldritch Battery node. |
