Trading Is A Very Bad Experience in POE2

First off, no insult to the devs, I am very much enjoying the game.

Trading in Path of Exile 2 is like trying to buy or sell on Facebook Marketplace. The experience is so bad that engaging in trade is simply not worth it.

-Why should the other person need to be online? Just facilitate the trade while they are off. The money is in their account when they come back on.

-Why should I need to go where the other person is to trade? What a waste of time! I just want to buy and have my item.

-I should not need to party with or really contact the seller at all unless I want to haggle.

-Using an out of game website feels very shady and half baked. It feels like a back alley deal in a bad neighborhood.

I usually love playing with markets in online games, but this is not really a market, it is a chaotic minefield.

How do I even know what the going price is? I might be getting ripped off and not even know it.

Bottom line, it is not fun to trade and I feel like it should be fun. I enjoy this aspect in many other games.

It is literally the only thing I dislike so maybe I'll just pretend trade does not exist and enjoy the game otherwise. That sure would be a real shame however.

Dude its beta the Auction isnt in the game yet
I 100% agree. The main reason I quit playing POE1 was the trading. I'm glad to see they are making the crafting more accessible since I'd rather craft than trade but if they really want to make POE2 console friendly they need an auction house. Having to navigate through menus, typing or having to use external websites\tools is a pretty much a killer for a console player.

I would rather they concentrate on implementing and testing an auction house rather then worrying about other things like class balance. 1) I think an auction house should be a core mechanic in the game and since it would be new, they need to develop and properly test it. 2) Having an auction house will expose more people to more builds through the increased access to gear and give a better idea of true class\skill balance. 3) Having overpowered classes and skills could actually help test out the auction house and the economy as a whole and they can then use that information to develop counter measures to market manipulation tactics.

Yes, that means it is the perfect time to talk about what is good and what is annoying. There will never be a better time than right now.
Does anyone know if there are future plans for an Auction house in-game because I think that would be great.

I agree that the current system is very annoying and clunky. Better than nothing but not the best solution. The auction house would also solve the scamming issues.
The trading is a complete joke.
It takes you away from gameplay for far too long.
Just make a market!
Can't believe I even have to state this.
Selling, and buying is a part of every MMO.
Why make it so painful?
Get together devs!
the trade website is literally the official homepage site, however i agree, trade has been a pain for to long
theres currency exchange auction house ingame already, remove gold cost and add items
for pricing on the other side, you will never know an items worth, unless you know exactly, play a lot - earn a lot
even with an ingame auction house you will get ripped off

Check out the trade manifesto from Chris 7 years ago.
Sometimes it's easy to say why don't do this why don't do that without ever thinking.

Chris logic makes no sense. It is meta to power up your character via trade. There is no deterministic way to keep increasing your character build without heavy rng atm in POe2. His whole reason is the equivalent of saying we should deliver files on a computer through a usb stick in person vs network because its more personable. A true sneakernet move.

Trading how it is right now is why there needs to be rules. Without rules you get time wasters, fishers, and all other scummy behavior. You don't even get to interact with most of these trade people anyhow. So at the end of the day all your doing is wasting more time on trading then playing the actual game. The sad thing being its the best and fastest way to gear your character up once you have the currency. Doesn't make any sense tbh.

Did you really read the whole passage? How is that an equivalent of delivering files on a computer through a USB stick in person?
His main point is that the bot will be a lot more efficient in trading and u guys will end up can't buy anything because of inflation.
