The current gem system will drive console players away, leaving no one playing.
If you designed Path of Exile 2 with consoles in mind, I don’t understand the gem system you’ve created. As it stands, once the game launches in version 1.0 with six additional classes and their corresponding weapons (and skill gems), console players won’t last long in this game. They’ll start playing, have a blast, and enjoy it a lot, but as they progress through the acts and accumulate more and more gems in their inventory, they’ll stop playing. I don’t think I know of any RPG where your character’s abilities are items stored in the inventory. And here, it’s not just abilities you’re storing—you’re also keeping modifiers that act as supports and items that unlock these abilities and supports.
I understand that you keep the skill gem system in the inventory because they can have their quality improved and can be traded, but do you really think people on consoles are going to trade? Do you honestly believe the average player will go to a website and start chatting with the seller, given how inconvenient it is to type? Not a chance. And then there’s the fact that support gems can’t be duplicated—so what’s the point of it all? Do you realize how complicated and messy it is to check the support gem library and not know if you already have one in your inventory? Do you know how frustrating it is to find the gem you want in your inventory and move it around? I honestly don’t think you’ve played extensively on consoles or with a controller. I have two proposals: one that’s simple and easy, requiring no changes to the system, and another that’s more logical but requires more work and changes to the system. - The simple one: redesign the interface for socketing support gems into skills. Make it work the other way around—instead of selecting a support gem from the inventory and dragging it to the skill, allow players to click on the skill and open a small interface showing all the support gems available in the inventory/stash for that skill. This would save a lot of time and avoid organizational issues. Additionally, the support gem interface should indicate whether you already own a gem, not just if it’s equipped. The difficult one: Redesign the system so that gems, both skill and support, are unlocked in your gem library instead of being generated as items. Gems wouldn’t occupy inventory space—they’d simply be unlocked and accessible from the library. If you still want trading to be possible, you could add an option in the interface to “download gem” as an item, but the core idea of this proposal is to avoid having an inventory full of gems. If you want people to feel encouraged to experiment with skills and create their own builds, you need to address this issue; otherwise, there won’t be anyone left playing on consoles after finishing the campaign. P.S.: Since I imagine there’s no way you’ll change the system, it’s also crucial to redesign the gem stash. The current one is insufficient—you need to add sorting by gem type (skill or support), color, automatic organization, etc. The game is amazing and has a lot of potential, but you need to decide if you truly want Path of Exile 2 to be a different game from the first one or not. Buy a stash tab, there is a gem stash tab, use your points if you haven't.
I am playing on console and i have no problems with how the skill gem works..i also trade no ptoblem. Just search your item, click direct whisper, no need to type. |

I do have a stash for gems, but it is far from enough.
When you have dozens of gems in your inventory, trying to redo your build is a nightmare. A rework of the interface is mandatory so that you select your support gems from the abilities instead of the other way around. Here’s a simple solution: - You press Y (or any other button) on your desired ability, and a small window opens showing all the support gems you have that are compatible with that ability. You simply select one. - In your support gem library, include an indication of whether you already own a particular gem. - Improve the gem stash by allowing grouping and sorting by color, support/active, uncut/cut, etc. This would massively improve the quality of life for console/controller players. |

I’m going to have to hard disagree on this. The new system is great compared to Poe 1.The old fusing system was trash compared to this. Support gem diversity is awesome. When sing a support skill gem it already shows the supports you can use just hold x or square. Overall the ui is very clean it’s just new and you need to understand what you’re looking at. As for the issue with finding already cut gems you’re just going to have to filter to find faster. Consoles will never have the speed pc has. We don’t have a cursor to hover over gems quickly. Overall it’s massive stride forward and when the game launches we will have more support gems to work with. This will help with the limited support gems.

" PoE 1? " Yes, why not? " It can... but also you may play with more that one characker. You can just drop ussles gem to the ground, just keep few uncut lvl3 in stash. " And you may do this with gem stash tab. Last edited by talraashi#8263 on Dec 20, 2024, 10:56:16 AM

Your the only one complaining about something that is not an issue. I clearly spoke on behalf of myself. Stop insinuating things that are not there and understand what's in front of you.
