Suggestions for Maps Endgame Content adjustment to 1 life maps
As I'm sure many have seen recently there have been a lot of discourse on endgame content and specifically Maps/Atlas system.
One of the primary complaints is the lack of complexity of the map not enough bosses aand more importantly the 1 life attempts at these maps coupled with the intence ramping damage for some enemies and damage on death (DOD) monsters. In this post I'd like to touch on a few ideas i have for Adjusting the above mentioned 1 life nature as well as an idea to add more bosses. 1st off this list of ideas are not in any particular order or importance over each other and are simpley here to voice options that GGG could look over. #1 Make it so checkpoints inside maps grant additional life each. So 2 - 3 checks points means you could receive up too 2-3 lives per map. Resetting at the end of each map and do not carry over to the next map. #2 Add side objectives with in a map such as a shrine. Complete the "shrine" to receive a token that grants a extra life think something like a 1up in Mario.These can stack and be taken out of the map like any other loot NOTE:Consider putting a cap on the item so a player can only hold so many at once. That way this "1up" can't be farmed out in lower maps and abused for endless lives. #3 You collect stones for your modifiers for each map add a Stone modifier that grants extra lives. So you could expect to find these extra life stones in the loot table you could further modify this sort of extra life with effects also if you wanted to go crazy with it. #4 add hidden side nodes to map locations with optional side bosses or objective that grant lives on completion. You will notice how a few of these ideas are built up on the idea to hopefully add additional sort of dynamic content and hopefully spice up the mapping system for players while awarding and actively giving a positive feedback for players. As the current system seems to be a bit to punishing for folks that aren't using the most meta of builds. Which at least to me seems to go against the entire idea of Path of Exile 2, build experimentation, trying new things. While other listed ideas are more straightforward layerings into the existing system for ease of implementation at least in theory. I personally would rather see some deeper system to enable multiple lives and respawns as opposed to just giving every player multiple lives. However I am new to POE2 Anand ARPGs in general. Given what I know having seen many streams and videos and talks about maps recently. I came up with these ideas to pitch to the community and to GGG should they be looking. All of these ideas are open for changes and tweaks I am not married to any of them in any particular way if anyone likes the idea but could see a modification to the way I present it feel free to comment. Path of Exile 2 is a fantastic game and I feel like most folks are very happy with the game and the required changes thus far have not needed to be all that drastic so with that in mind I tried to keep measured ideas on how these issues could be addressed.
