Is WitchHunter based on Ballistas viable?

I want to play with Witchunter as my first character on poe 2, but i want to do different things not just relying on grenades or lightning abilities. Then i was thinking about Bleed Ballistas, or just ballistas.
My question is: do you guys think it's viable? I'd appreciate any tips on which path to take, or even unique items I can build around.

I wasn't able to get ripwire ballistas, the first ones you unlock, to feel good. Using them with armor piercing rounds and the armor break explosion support felt ok for clear, but suffered on bosses.

However, artillery ballista has worked out pretty well for me, and just got buffed in the latest patch. I built a gemling, but I think you'd just need to swap some strength nodes for dex and int to make it work on a witchhunter.
