Trials of the Sekhema - 4th Ascendancy - state of the game on console
This trial is hard enough for pc players, but for PS5 oh man. The joystick controls feel very off, the auto aim is constantly targeting completely wrong or to a different mob I'm not looking at sometimes not even targeting an enemy at all. I've tried to toggle focus on and off but it doesn't matter, it just doesn't work properly. projectile skills that require good mechanics are impossible, hammer of the gods is going to a white mob behind me while I'm facing a rare in front of me. It's not ideal but aight for maps because you have time and can take damage, but impossible for "sanctum". I've played hundreds of hours of sanctum in PoE1 and all I can tell is that this is going nowhere for console at least. the difference in fluidity, add in all the slow animations and nature of poe2, is humongous. I've also experienced some framerate issues here and there in ritual rooms.
I'm slowly but surely losing interest in the beta. I've had a rough start already, but I managed to kinda get a build together and the gameplay loop started to not be that enjoyable anymore after reaching t11+ waystones, especially if you can't progress through the ascendancy. maps are getting very repetitive and crafting in poe2 is a boring pure gamble. the ruthless flavour of the game wouldn't be that much of an issue for me if ther weren't so many painpoints. I like the game optically and the engaging boss fights, but I'm kinda getting diablo 4 vibes. Ascendancies seem to be boring and overcomplicated and gem combinations are very limited (if you wanna be effective). I also don't like the fact that the passive tree is so huge compared to poe1 and limits the way you can use a class in a creative way. Another painpoint of using a controller is that the game is pushing you towards using several different skills together with dodge roll, that's simply annoying. This is my take about the game for console so far, I'll continue to log in for a few hours regularly probably but let's see. Everyone is born a king, and most people die in exile. What I mean by ascendancies and the gameplay loop being boring as an example is:
In Poe 1: I go into a map, get one shot by a random mob, I go back to the drawing board, I do my ascendancy, I change my tree fix my res and go back into the map and boom. I've surcome the encounter, every small upgrade, skill point, ascendancy point matters and it can feel extremely impactful. In Poe 2: I can do all those things mentioned above and more and still get owned by the game. I can do all those things, overlevel like crazy and it can still feel terrible, I lose resistances upon opening a higher tier map. It almost feels like the game is fighting against me at all cost for me to not have any enjoyment playing or having the feeling of getting a stronger character. If I go back to lower maps I can see a huge difference in power, but it doesn't feel as nearly as good as in poe1. It is the exact same feeling I had playing d4 grinding nightmares after nightmares and having the enemies always scaling with me, no matter how I build my character. It feels bad. Please don't go that route. Everyone is born a king, and most people die in exile. Last edited by AC1DM00N7#9775 on Dec 16, 2024, 4:34:33 PM
