Gamepad button layout compared to PoE1
Hello everyone!
Yesterday I logged into PoE1 to fix some MTX stuff and finally figured out what was bothering me about the quickbar layout - It looks like a keyboard quickbar with controller mapping instead of a controller quickbar. The best ARPG controller layouts, at least visually, are PoE1 and Final Fantasy 14. Because the buttons are actually arranged in the shape of the controller, which saves me an extra step memorizing how a straight bar translates into two circles and four shoulder buttons. I'd really love for the PoE1 layout to return, or at least to be an option. Not in its entirety - just the way the skills are ordered on the screen. (I play on PS5 if that's important) Last bumped on Dec 17, 2024, 9:09:17 AM

Agreed! I'm a very visual person and that layout helps a ton.
FF14's controller setup is wonderful once you learn how to use it. Could give us a ton more functions if you use a bunch of skills. |

I’m torn, I couldn’t place what felt off about it until this thread. I’ve been playing D4 more since the expansion so it’s been a while. I just went to compare and there’s good and bad to each, not a fan of the way PoE2 splits a single globe for both resources but don’t outright hate it either.
Poe felt very minimalistic I guess is the word. It was simple yet effective, reminiscent of how FFXIV handled controllers. I figure couch coop played a hand in the way this changed. |

I think PoE2 Left is even worse than the split option. Smaller skill images, one on top of the other...
But I can see why you'd want to not have to cross-eye stare at two opposite edges of a big monitor. |
