How to understand what map has which biome?
Maybe it's an ESL thing to not understand a "poke" in the name or whatever.
Yeah sure, if a map is clearly on a sand tile it will, in my guess, be desert but it's not always clear, at least to me. For example this "Abyss" Map borders on forest and desert. Which is it? Or this, also bordering Desert and Forest, but which is it? And what about "Water" Biome? Didn't find any underwater maps yet or anything that I would associate with water biome. Each one has a name ( Mire, sulphur vents, etc ). You remember the biome associated with the name. At least that's how I do it.
I dunno about water ones. I doubt you could be underwater in this game.... Last edited by lupasvasile#5385 on Dec 16, 2024, 9:48:29 AM

" And how am I supposed to know what this resembles in the first place? Not every kind of map managed to fit into anything of the biomes for the Atlas node and I honestly do not want to open a wiki or notepad next to the game to see which is what, because I have a bad short term memory. I won't be able to remember. TwitchTV: http://www.twitch.tv/akumanotsubasa

" Its mostly experience. Even for native speakers, not every map name clearly states what type of biome it will have. It really comes down to playing enough maps that you recognize the biome based on the name of the map on the atlas. |

" Rip but glad to see that this is not an ESL only problem then. Maybe we're lucky and they add in what biome that is in simple plain text. TwitchTV: http://www.twitch.tv/akumanotsubasa

Maybe there is a wiki with screenshots of each tileset? I'm struggling to remember some - I just know that I hate the "Mire' map and will try to avoid those ones lol.

" the wiki has listed a few ones but I am not sure how much to trust. For example I had a "Steppe" map. It was a forest map from the looks in the forest looking biome part but a steppe is a mostly dry area often similar to a desert. Slick on Desert: Slick on Mountains: Seeing this makes me doubting that the mapname itself says anything about its biome but rather really just on what part of the map it is on. Most likely, there are maps that can appear in multiple biomes. The map name tells you what the actual map will look like when you open it. I believe biome just affects which maps can be generated in those spaces.

" But what is the trigger for the Atlas Tree 40% loot bonus? The tile-"biome" the map sits on or the map itself? TwitchTV: http://www.twitch.tv/akumanotsubasa
