Idea to make orb-based crafting more appealing

Hello Exiles

My idea is simple in its basics - instead of being pure RNG, give players a bit of choice. Ex when using an Exalted Orb some window with X possible affixes will appear, as well as possibility to opt out of adding any presented affix; the orb still will be consumed anyway.

X could be related to some progress in campaign(some quest perhaps?), and say be 2 at the beginning of Act 2, and so on, up to let's say 4, 5 or 6. The important part here is to increase it gradually during campaign.

Chaos Orb would work in similar, it'd allow to choose which of existing affixes is about to be replaced, and by what.

Such approach imo would help with issues regarding "bad or unlucky drop", as well it'll mitigate risk of bricking potentially useful items, and also will help with upgrading gear with game progress.

What do you think?

Bump, 'cause I don't believe everyone find it bad.
This is what essences are for. They need to up the drop rate for those.

What you are suggesting would probably make the game too easy and gear to overpowered. The developers like the RNG nature of things like Chaos orbs. Otherwise everyone would have Godly gear
Bring back scours and alterations and people might craft again.

Right now its just omen crafting, and thats out of reach for virtually everyone both in terms of price and game knowledge required.

Picking up hundreds of bases requires a pyscho mindset.

These exist in poe 1, and sild for the equivilent of like 5-10 div in this game per use, i dont think you understand how broken that would be.

It was called harvest, and it was heavily nerfed multiple times and people still paid a fortune for a single +1 to x y z type exalt slam.

I disagree, it'd only make things a little more user-friendly. For example, assuming there are 200 suffixes, and you're interested only in 4 (say resists) you'd still need a lot of orbs. The change I'm proposing would make getting the desired modifier a bit easier, and also prevent bricking the item by drawing something useless, locking suffix slot.

Still it'll be possible to draw low tier roll even for useful affix.
Still it'll be needed to use many orbs to get desired set of affixes.
And lastly, still it'll be needed to burn many Divine Orbs to improve values of the affixes.

So, the RNG will still play a major role in crafting, but not overwhelmingly big role, as it is now.
