Can anyone help my with Chayula mana leech

I don't know how make mana leech from ascendancy work, because doesn't seem to leech any mana ou energy shield. I choose this ascendancy only for this mana leech stuff, to try make work with the node that reduces your life to 1, thinking that this won't matters since I was supposed to take all the damage at my mana before life. But know I don't know how make it works and don't have sufficient gold to respect my build.

Leech is incredibly complex in PoE 1. It was simplified somewhat in PoE 2, but I'm not sure which one you are referring to. Regardless, you are most likely either (1) leeching less than you expected or (2) using the wrong form of damage to trigger your leech.

I don't know where I'm going wrong. What would be the correct form of damage?
