Bow + Quarterstaff workable?

Hey all. I'm on my second character atm, building a Monk v2.

I'm currently using bow and staff, with an following aims:

- Combine Tempest Bell with Snipe for good damage + spread
- Staff auto-attack plus something cold or power charge building?
- Frost Bomb or other cold skills to immobilise allowing for Snipe etc

Is Bow + Staff plausible like this? I'm going with it anyway as I really enjoy the playstyle, just looking to get my expectations right.

Can't wait for daggers to be added, then I can finally be the Ranger/Assassin I've always dreamed of...

Tempest Bell needs a Quarterstaff to be used and combo gets lost when you switch weapons, so unfortunately you cannot combine Tempest Bell with a bow + snipe.

If you go elemental damage, Invoker will most often be a stronger choice at this time (if you care about that).

For a hybrid char, you could take a look at the resonance keystone:
You could use a poison bow skill with corrosion and break endurance support to break armour and generate frenzy charges from afar, then move in and finish the enemy with physical staff attacks.
For the melee part, one idea would be to generate power charges via combat frenzy combined with the bushwhack unique boots.
Thanks, I'll look into the poison option there, sounds fun. It's annoying other weapons don't work with Tempest bell, but I suppose it makes sense.

Definitely Resonance and Combat Frenzy seems the reliable way to generate power charges if I don't want a lightning build.

Edit: the bell/bow combo is more drop the bell and hit it with Snipe, I assume that would boost the Snipe shot damage and with perfect timing that's 100% crit.

You can hit the bell with anything that can hit. You can hit them with a Comet cast or a bow, or even a big 2h sunder attack.

Big thing is the bell only scales off getting hit/elemental afflictions. I don't think the magnitude of the hit matters. So 1 damage, or 1 million damage on the bell is just gonna be one ring.

In theory you can use melee quarterstaff skills to build combos. Drop a bell (or two) and flip backwards and fire arrows to 'gong' the bell at a distance.

Although It's probably better to just use a ranged quarterstaff skill due to the delay weapon swapping.
POE, Diablo III, and Torchlight 2... what, who says I can't enjoy all of them?
It's probably doable especially if you stick to one damage type. The big thing to look out for is to take damage nodes that help both weapons. Attack damage or danage with two handed are probably the best ones, however neither are very easily available for monk. Cold or lightning are probably your best bets. I was theorycrafting a poison build with bow/staff but quickly realized that the staff probably won't do much for me there. What could be kinda funny and maybe even effective could be to use Freezing Salvo or Barrage Ice Shot to pop the bell really fast.
Yeah I was trying out poison/chaos as a Chayula monk but the Monk side sucks for poison/chaos and I couldn't get much damage out of the bow side either (and want melee as a decent part of the fighting).

I was thinking go Physical damage for Snipe + Chaos damage, with Whirling attack / bell, but bell doesn't scale chaos/DOTs it seems.

Salvo might be fun with ice strike and bell.

I hope some more melee Chaos weapons and skills appear. Monk is pretty much cold or lightning which to me gets dull quickly.
