Question - Do you use basic attack as the main source of single target dmg?

I would like to know if in a working build your main hitting skill against single targets (including bosses) is the basic attack? Or is this always a wrong answer?

My warrior lvl47 ended act 3 this way.
My leveling characters fight first bosses this way.
Of course skills are used to cause effects, or dots (like poison from poison arrow) but then it's back to basics.

It works fine for me on a warrior as of level 53. Has a slowdown at the end of act 3 and the start of act 4 when my low level weapon started to be old. Crafted a new one at level 51 and am back to one-shotting packs and having an easy time on bosses.

Im using the 2H maul with implicit AoE.
Left click - basic attack with brutality, attack speed support and close combat support.
Right click - Armor Breaker with armor explosion support, inc AoE support and more armor breaking support.

Simple game play, right click once to kill all trash and break all armor. Left click to kill whats left standing.

It may prove completely useless at endgame.
On my monk, ever since ice strike and tempest flurry became available I stopped using the default attack. Those are just better than the default attack in everyway.
Anyone else?
