GM banned me for 7 days from chat
I named a character diddypartyenthusiast (not a long-term character, just one to get exalted orbs, which I find are more common at low levels). I put in chat, "W name?" and "diddypartyenjoyer was already taken." Seconds later I get a message about some "You have been muted for 168 hours." I try to send a smiley face to see the mute thing again, and it says, "You have been muted by a GM for 6 days 23 hours [etc.]."
If the name or what I said is not allowed, I'm fine with the mute, but I don't see how this would violate any TOS. The only thing remotely close is obscenity, but while the joke is not nice, it is certainly not obscene (lewd or offensive). While normally I wouldn't care about some mute, I have really enjoyed just talking with people in chat about gear, teaching randoms how to fight bosses they're having difficulty with, and, in general, just chilling. If having an obscurely immoral name is against the rules, then why in the world is that not stated anywhere? I know the POE team reserves the right to change the names whenever they like, but I would greatly appreciate clarity on this. GGG has previously stated in emails to people "We reserve the right to change any name we deem too offensive, which are usually names that have racial slurs or direct insults in them." This was in reference to PoE1, where names were by your account and not character. From what I've read the worst that is supposed to be able to happen is being forced to change the name (in poe1, no information available online about poe2 but the ToS clause is identical) Definitely let me know so I can change my guild name as well.
