Put the Softcore back in Softcore Please

I play softcore for a reason. I want death to basically mean I lose exp and maybe a minute or two running back to where I was and losing that instance of a league mechanic (IE an in progress ritual/breach/etc). That is all to say, I want death to be a relatively minor inconvenience. The POE2 method where ONE death means you lose both that Map (and therefore the currency invested into rolling it), the Tablet buff, and ALL league mechanics/bosses on that node is way more punishing than is fun. Not only do you lose all of those things, you also then have to spend another map to clear that tile if you wanted to progress in that direction on the atlas. This map will be basically a white map, so it feels like a waste of time.

All of this is made even worse by the state of defenses in POE2. I have a fairly well optimized character. I'm not abusing any super OP mechanic, nor have I put thousands of exalts into the build, but I have a pretty solid Health/Mana (MOM) pool, good recovery, decent block and capped resistances. Getting one shot should be pretty infrequent, or from things that are my fault. Losing all of the above mentioned value and time due to overtuned mechanics, invisible spells/monsters, or any number of other things that aren't my own fault is not fun.

I do kind of like the midcore idea, but this is too far. Give us 2-3 deaths per map maybe, but limiting us to one death per map is too costly, especially given the current state of the game.

Today I did what I'm told to do a lot lately
"Go play PoE 1"
Clearly this game is not made for me
I've just have to accept that
What you are describing are an annoyance yes
But what really frustates me about this game is all the one shot mechanics
Even more so when they require fast reflexes
I just don't have those
