Crafting is inherently flawed in this game and will never be fixed
Because crafting materials (orbs) are the main currency for trade in this game, unless you play SSF or have virtually 100's of ex worth of gear already it just is basically never worth it to use your crafting mats.
Every single piece of gear I'm using at level 88 I bought on poe trade, It is incredibly rare to actually pick up an item that your class can use, and is just a few exalt slams away from being anywhere near as good as items you can just trade for using said crafting mats (exalts). I've found a few items that I instantly knew could be good if I slammed life or another res on them, or an attribute, but again not for my class. So again it's just something I can use to get more exalts, not actually craft with the intention of using. Right now in acts, you can completely and utterly trivialize the entire playthough with probably just 4 exalt orbs, and knowing what to look for on gear. You can buy +3 +100% inc spell damage staves or even better for 1ex, you can buy 100%+ inc phy damage with flat phy 2h mace for 1 ex, you can get leveling gear with like 30% total res and a life roll or the same on jewelry slots for 1ex all this under level 30. Act bosses become complete jokes that die in under 20 seconds with even the shittiest of builds with this kind of gear. The reason the game seems hard is 90% of the playerbase is just refusing to trade for whatever dumb reason, either they don't know, or think "ERMMM IM NOT TRADING TO COMPLETE ACTS THATS CRINGE!" and im sorry but if you think that way and you aren't playing SSF league you are just straight up retarded and there isn't anything nicer that can be said, yet thats what I'm reading when I tell people to just trade. But thats also the problem with crafting, why bother until ultra endgame to gamble 2-3 ex on an item, when 99.9999% of the time you are going to end up with trash you wont even be able to hawk for 1ex, when you can just use the crafting mats to buy an item from another player that is massive upgrade early on? Even now with the gear I probably spent 200ex on to get all my ele res capped at 76% and 64% chaos res, enough +2 max fire res jewels and block% on them as well to get my fire res to 84% and 50% passive block, and 444 spirit, I just don't feel like I am ever given an opportunity to craft that isn't pure gambling. The gear I need to upgrade is starting to get into the 30-50ex range or higher, like my worst piece of gear is a ring right now. That ring has 70% total res, +25 int, 70 life, and the 2 garbage stats for is cold damage and a low mana roll. In poe 2 gear is harder to stat for than in PoE 1, I absolutely need that int roll, my gems need nearly 200 int, you aint getting that on the tree, not to mention the shield im using need 70 str. So I need a ring with at least 70% total res of the res I need in that slot, a good life roll, at least 20 int, and then either a chaos res roll or a strength roll to eleviate pressure on the 3 other items Im getting strength on. To be able to craft something like that from scratch is astronomically fucking impossible, but for 30ex-50ex? there are some on the market right now. Getting that 30-50ex is significantly easier than trying to craft something like that. Again if I want to craft a scepter upgrade, it has to have +4 minions, + str, and + at least 40% spirit, it's just never going to happen in a million years, but again looking at the market, 50ex I can get that + 1 other good stat on it. And with how much loot explosions we have in endgame alched maps with delirium, tower mods, league mechanics etc. it probably only take a few hours of mapping to generate that many ex. If I were to pick up scepter bases craft them with orbs, not only would finding said bases take an eternity, but I'd probably go through 100's of items orbs, and exalted before I even get close to that. Tldr: unless crafting orbs are decoupled from the market, serious crafting is only for the top 0.001% of players and masochists playing ssf Last edited by BossOfThisGym#2062 on Dec 13, 2024, 6:59:11 PM Last bumped on Dec 13, 2024, 8:46:22 PM

I agree the crafting in this game sucks. I can either gamble away orbs orbs at terrible rates of rng or just go onto trade. Crafting needs more methods of getting the exact affix you want.

" People are also asking for increased drop rates which wont do much but maybe make ssf more bearable. I already feel like there is more than enough ex to slam when i need to which is an improvement over poe 1 but everything else is just worse. We really do need more orbs. Of all types.
That will allow players to create their own items. Something might need to be done to address the marketplace and its values. |

What you describe is basically the same in PoE 1, 1% of people craft, the other 99% is too lazy or scared and just buys from trade. You're just hoarding your craft materials to buy buypasses basically. It's not different in this game I guess.
I honestly think this game is better enjoyed in SSF, especially in a beta like this, you really feel impact of stuff that way, but I guess that's just my choice for having fun. |

" The problem is being unable to reroll bases, you brick bases each crafting attempt pretty much. Also it is extremely rough mapping without any good loot filters right now. Neversink hardly hides anything. Id pay for one at this point. Like if I could just see good bases and rares it would be a lot more enjoyable. 90% of my screen mapping in 15's is pure junk like wisdom scrolls, regal shards, bad base white blues etc. Oh and piles of 50 gold when rares will drop nearly 5k sometimes. Uniques are so bad I doubt id miss much hiding them all too. Last edited by BossOfThisGym#2062 on Dec 13, 2024, 8:39:49 PM

" My issue is more that people are playing self imposed ssf in standard league, not using the tools they have available, then crying the game is too hard. Half my time in poe was ssf maybe thousands of hours. But with this game I really have no desire since it would be more like ruthless ssf than standard poe1 ssf.
