Ammunition survey(?)

It seems I can't make an official poll, so people will just have to respond (or not).

As someone who's played 250 hours of PoE 1, and trying out Ranger in PoE 2 after peeking at Mercenary, I find the ammunition mechanic... troublesome. (I'm showing 31 hrs in PoE 2, I think my Ranger is 28 and Merc is 16.)

Here's the issue...

Standard play
Left mouse = main ability
Right mouse = special AE

So an attack cycle may go;
LM, LM, LM, RM

For which 4 attacks are fired off.

But Mercenary has the loading mechanic, so it needs to be
Left mouse = fire
Ammo A
Ammo B

That same cycle then becomes:
LM, LM, LM, Ammo B, LM, Ammo A

So now not only are you using 3 buttons instead of 2, you have to press 6 times for the effect of 4 ability casts. There are effectively 2 dead buttons, at a time if I recall of .75 sec each for that loading ability each.

This cycle gets worse if you calculate for a longer period. Even just expanding that to 5x as much, the base cycle becomes 20 button presses for 20 abilities, while Mercenary with loading becomes 30 for 20 abilities.

So...

I don't know about others but I'm effectively NOT using ammunition by only ever loading one. So here's my poll...

- - -

1 - I never swap ammunition ever. - You may upgrade to a different ammunition type as you level, but only ever have one on your bar.

2 - I swap ammunition extremely rarely. - You may have a couple of different ammunitions, but you only swap per map or for special uses like a boss fight.

3 - I freely swap between multiple ammunition types.

- - -

I'm going to guess that 85% or more of the playerbase is ignoring the mechanic and doing option 1 or 2 and maining grenades or supplementing other abilities with other weapon moves that are instant. I started by trying 3 and swapping as I would any other class, but it's just weird to my brain for an ability to NOT trigger on button press and to need to use my main attack button to use it.
