Why we playing crossbow ?

Hi guys,

Wanna talk about Crossbow gameplay. I'm totaly in love with crossbow skill but the mecanic have a big issue.

It's simple, i play 3 skill for doing my damage :

- Galvanic Shards for clear trash mobs or weak mobs ( apply shock )

- Plasma Blast for apply big shock on boss ( big channeling, painfull to use )

- Shockburst Rounds for main damage source against Shocked Rare and boss

So, if you know crossbow gameplay, you know we need reload skill before using it. And we make a several amount of reload in each map due to the amount of switch skill or just the base reload because we have an amount of ammunition.

It's very simple, if you want make the crossbow gameplay a bit more attractive compared to bow brother, just PUT A RELOAD WHEN WE SWAP SKILL !!! It's the most painfull mecanic of crossbow, switching skill and get slowed by a reload. Keep the reload mecanic but count switch skill for a reload please god....

At this point, just play bow ....

i have more to say, also a fan of xbow builds
there`s a few stuff that is grinding my gear for absolute no reason.

Fresh clips is bugged, not giving more dps with amount of bolts loaded in clip.
Travel distance damage buff support gem won't support the skill with the biggest travel distance in game.

Seriously, how, the only skill that has a gigantic travel distance and projectile speed has siege cascade. Won't get the support gem buff due a bit of physics?

Siege cascade is an insane skill if you know how to properly built it but the nerfs the xbow and lack of calculations it has. damn sometimes i just want to quit.

witches on coc doing 300x more damage with cheap ass wand of 700dps while at 900dps xbow i won't even kill map bosses

please ggg i need help fix and buff siege cascade T_T

you might want to try stormblast bolts + mirage archer with explosive shot for bosses (over 70M dmg :D), siege cascade/galvanic a beast for clearing.

siege cascade needs at least 200%+ speed projectile and makes a great combo paired with sine aquo, galvanic shards only needs a decent crossbow and a good ring paired with kalandra's touch (or 2 decent rings),

I only play crossbow and i can tell it has never been in a better spot than the last 2 leagues.

I'm also not if fan with this "FPS" gameplay they tried to simulate. The fact that skills are basically just "reload skill" and you need a different input for shooting just... doesn't feel smooth at all. Especially when they also try to have a gameplay around "combo". It's just painful to NEED to use both weapon sets for the Permafrost Bolt & Fragmentation Rounds combo for example.

I mean, why adding this ?

Xbow play has 50%-70 less DPS if you don't play the deepest tower build. Its a disaster. The deepest tower build is the minimum acceptable level but its way to weaker than any other weapon. Overall Xbow is a weapon that invests ton of things that other weapon don't need to care. Playing two skills with combo in high tier maps is 10% win/ 90% death.

For clearings GS and IS can do the job pretty well...

Just remember that crossbow doesnt mean mercenary and viceversa.

Really?? I didn't see so far someone with Xbow play killing bosses in less than 5 sec in full party. From the other other hand i see every fk mage killing anything on map without pressing two or three buttons. Ofcourse Mercenary + Xbow is the worst combination. GL is also very weak. If they gonna nerf Deepest tower then there is nothing else to do in Merc site. It will be abandoware...

Are you playing standard or what??
Deepest tower been removed from the game so i guess it still exist in standard? (i dont play there just asking)
I actually had someone killing a 6 man zarokh with a crossbow in 3 seconds this league, it was a witchunter believe it or not.
I'm happy with xbows, never been better than this to be honest, i probably appreciate it more than others because i play solo and dont care about party play.
It's an ok weapon as long as i can 1 shot bosses, from maps to pinnacles.

Edit: forgot to mention Riven Armour, done with APR, HVR and melt em down
with fragmentation round on the https://www.poe2wiki.net/wiki/Rampart_Raptor which is 8dex/8str crossbow.
