Can we shift the heaving lifting from GPU to CPU? Calling all PC nerds...
A few weeks ago I built the following PC.
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super CPU:AMD Ryzen 7900X3D - 12 Cores Ram: 32g Resolution: 4096x2160 45" LG TV Windows 11 POE 2 Client running from Steam. Everything in game is set to the highest settings it can go and im running a little over 100FPS using dx12. Question i have is the GPU is pegged at about 98% and its running fine, not overheating or anything like that but the lazy CPU is sitting at like 12-15% utilization. Is there anything I can do to switch some of the heavy lifting from the GPU over to utilize more of the CPU? Also about every hour or hour and a half i get some kind of fatal popup error box on the game stating "Cant generate Texture" or something like that where it hard crashes the game. Anyone familiar with this? Last bumped on Dec 12, 2024, 10:08:25 PM

Firstly, does using a 45" TV to game on hurt your neck?
Secondly, GPUs are designed to render games, they are better at it too. No need to want your CPU to 'do more of the heavy lifting'. Are you having bad performance or low frames? Why do you want the CPU to do more? Thirdly, that crash comes about when a texture can't be loaded because it's corrupted. Have you done a file repair or reinstall? " haha nah the TV is right inline with my sight. I am actually sitting on a recliner a few feet in front of it. Have a gaming room setup in one of the spare bedrooms to stay out of my wifes way lol. I thought by having the CPU do some more work it would alleviate the GPU being at like 98%, guess it doesnt really matter as I am not having any problems besides the one i mentioned. I will also do a repair on the steam installation and see if it helps. Thanks for the help, its greatly appreciated. |

" we talking end game mob/effects density or campaign? |

If you want higher CPU utilisation and lower GPU just reduce resolution to 1080p or lower. Defeats the point in having a good PC though.
Or you know, just set your frame limit to 50 or something? There's no way to just have 100% CPU utilisation because the engine would be running at thousands of FPS for no reason at all. This post was sponsored by me.

Running a witch with bombers lol. Not quite at endgame yet, just finishing up act 3 cruel.

" Understood folks, thank you. |

that's pretty heavy visual density already. good to know the game is performing this well on a reasonable rig. btw is the engine even optimized enough for multithreading to push cpu higher? poe1 used to be bottle necked by this

" Seems to target 8 main threads and no hyper threading. Honestly seems to run reasonably from my experience. I think their engine is really good. This post was sponsored by me.

" you could try lowering the max render resolution a little which should even out the load a bit, allowing more frames, but the loss in quality might be unacceptable. when playing at 4k your GPU will always be the bottleneck. Last edited by Dak01#7115 on Dec 12, 2024, 10:09:47 PM
