If you don't like character names then let players rename their players.

I was banned in global for writing

"The fun police had a lot of fun today" 24 hour global ban.

I made a thread on this and I was given the excuse my name is offensive.

UnitedHealthCareAssasin" is apparently offensive. I disagree, but fine. I'll just change my name.

Oh, it appears I can't change my name.
So you have an issue with my name so your fix is to ban me for global as the first ban was uncalled for bullying, but the name ban is your next excuse?

Why can't I change my name? I had to change my character name in POE1. It was really simple. I would log in and be instructed to change my name before I could log into my character.

So what are we doing? Am I to keep playing with this so called back offensive name? Are you going to allow me to change my name?

I just want to play the game and be able to use it's features. If I can't then I'm ok with giving me a $160.00 EA pack refund and I'll leave EA.

Sounds like you deserve the right to rename.

Not like I'm involved in any way but I feel the need to say...
Sorry that we live in such a fragile society that it could not handle a name like the one you used.

Sounds like interacting with the community is dangerous.
Not a good image this gives off.
And yeah your name was not offensive at all.
fwiw, I personally never understood why nicknames like that ever managed to become common and allowed in most games and communities and I do think it is unnecessarily offensive and doesn't really have any positive side to it.
So, I would support a company who tries to make changes in this regard and ban players who chose such names.

That being said, I know quite a few communities, especially on discord, which explicitly forbid names like that.

But, I also think that if it wasn't absolutely obvious from the ToS that this will lead to a ban without the option to change your name, you should get a free Name Change.

btw, you can usually refund CC payment for 30days so depending on the country you live in, you may be legally able to refund your payment if you aren't happy with the delivered product.
If they had it in PoE I imagine they’ll put it in PoE2 too. However, I can see why they didn’t yet, because everyone is creating characters and they don’t want the database writing to break.

In a month when the new character creations per minute are down by 99%, I imagine they’ll have it on their list to open up this ability again at some point.
