ultimatum WILL kill this game for a majority of players
Title says it all.
I have been playing monk, had a fairly easy time getting to act 3, though first trail boss was annoying as melee. However, act 3 ultimatum has taken the game from being enjoyable to being grindy, tedious and honestly just not fun. Getting to the boss is challenging enough, then to just get 1 shot by the boss and being forced to start from scratch from an attack that is not telegraphed at all amd insta kills, like the blood from one boss or the tornado from the other.... is just downright awful design. All thats happening in this situation is the player is getting punished for not having the ability to see the future. 1 hit mechanics NEED to be telegraphed and most importantly AVOIDABLE. Also, recommended level 38??? Ok own up, who decided this? Also, to anyone who comes here looking to flame, i want it to be known that i will NOT follow a build guide, my build has been doing fine. Also making your own build is half of the fun, if your solution is to look up a build guide then unfortunately YOU are not playing the game, you are simply delegating half of the gameplay to another person. In my eyes this is no different to exploiting glitches in games in order to make the game easier for yourself.(Which is true in some ways since a lot of build guides DO exploit glitches or unbalanced mechanics) Either way, i like the game but hardlocking ascensions which are a very important part of power scaling behind unfun mechanics is NOT IT. The trial of strength? Ok! The trial of chaos however... no... that one should be optional and because of the difficulty should be much later game. The trials being based on some past poe1 mechanic that totally blow and are unenjoyable for those that did not like that particular league mechanic in the first place is hoorendeous. How about a new mechanic for a sequal game not the re-use of previous leagues that some players didnt enjoy to the point that they avoided them like the plague. The fact that it wasnt enjoyed by aot of the the player base should not have been a decision making factor for POE2 in that "we will make them like it". Its bad that we are seeing so much duplication in POE2 not originality. In fact we are seeing less and less enjoyment. Now alteration orbs arent even a thing! Melee is yet again poor (ok there will be some of you saying yadayada I dont have a problem I breezed it etc. grats, medal ceremony to follow) and crafting is just dismal.

Yeah i agree, as a monk player, early game is extremely tedious, ranged characters can fire off a plethora of attacks meanwhile what do i get?
A close range, low damage bonk.... that i have to use 30 consecutive times just to kill the boss/ rare enemy guarding the gate into town... Also idk if you have had this happen, but my monk has trouble hitting certain enemies where he will instead move past them, swinging in the opposite direction, then dash to the opposite side and repeat.... rather than letting me attack the enemy like normal. |

BUG REPORT: (Put this here for ease)
