Ghostwrithe and Eldritch Battery

With Eldritch Battery and Ghostwrithe, Ghostwrithe gives me ES, i cant have es :(

I just bought it now and was trying it out and can confirm the same behavior - it's granting ES instead of mana. Apparently Ghostwrithe is also granting its full bonus for users with CI.

I think this seems like unintentional behavior with Ghostwrithe's effect being applied at an incorrect spot in the chain of events/conversions. It is certainly not intuitive if this is how it's supposed to work, especially the CI interaction.

yes, thought it would slot in perfectly in my build but it doesnt work how I expected. Different from poe1 pretty sure.

Can we get someone to confirm if this is a bug or intentional?

This is fully intended with POE2's implementation of conversion. It is not a bug.

There is no "chain of conversion". All conversion effects are simultaneous.

Eldritch Battery converts ES to Mana at the same time Ghostwrithe converts Life to ES. The ES from Ghostwrithe cannot be converted again, because that would be 2 steps.

Please stop reporting this as a bug.

Not a bug. If you view the Eldritch Battery node in the passive skill tree and hover over the word "convert" it clearly states that the conversion only applies to your base ES. It means that it converts ALL of your base ES. That doesn't stop items from converting life to energy shield after the fact, which is what happens in this case.

So order of operations as intended is:

1. Base ES is converted to mana by Eldritch Battery
2. Ghostwrithe or Atziri's Disdain convert life to ES
3. Everlasting Gaze adds ES based on base mana
4. Percentage increases from skill nodes are then applied to both ES and mana

These are intended interactions which many people have mistakenly interpreted as a bug because they haven't read the "convert" tooltip on the Eldritch Battery node.
