Grasping Wounds and ES?

Looking at Blood Mage:

Life that is "lost" does not count as damage. It won't affect your ES, Mana (if you have Mind over Matter), etc - it's just removed from your life pool. There's a similar interaction with the Crown of Thorns unique.
