Is there a way to get lower level skill gems?

How do I get lower level skill gems without having to run around a lower level zone for 30 minutes hoping one drops?

I want to use a curse but I don't have the INT requirement for the level of uncut skill gems that drop. Why am I forced to use every skill at max level? I can't use any skill except the mainline skills for my class like that.

Couple things, one it's good to save extra gems as you lvl. As you said you can go back and zip through lower level zones and pick up gems. You can of course trade as people have tons of leftover gems.

Then you can always respec you passive points and start your pathing to another node you will eventually take to get attributes. Also you can just start keeping an eye out checking vendors often for + Int gear.

I'm running into this as well, worst case is I want to get a spirit gem at lower level which is rare. I'm going to have to run around act 1 for like 4 hours to get one lol. They should really let us pick the skill level.

For me I just want a "cast on shock" to try stuff out so I don't even care if it's high level or not really.

Buy a low level gem on the trading site, they will cost not much now
In PoE1, you can downgrade gem with orb of scouring but no more, like tons of other things.

+1. On SSF it is very annoying. Let us choose the level starting from the minimum the skill requires up to the level of the uncut skill gem.

Really clunky to now to be optimal I have to always engrave a new gem instead of upgrading the one I have.

Same issue, i ran Keth in Act 2 until one dropped. Sample size isnt the greatest as i was looking for a level 7 and it was the first one that dropped.

As they write in the Twitter post before the patch about "Cast On" :

So I think, it will not, they want us to play highest skills gem.
And I think, if they wanted to let us play all kind of level gem, they would have put a vendor in endgame town.


I can't imagine what is gonna happen when you will change an item of your set and don't have requirement to play some of your main skills.

hm, i have bought a perfect jeweller orb and upgraded my skill gem, but now it costs so much mana. how can i go back without buying a greater and perfect jeweller orb one again. lel?
