Additional Projectile in POE2

Question does additional projectile is same mechanic as poe1?

for sample scattershot additional 2 projectile
does it triple the damage or still the same as old mechanic like aoe larger hits but same damage. cause tried asking someone in dc they told me it increases damage.

projectiles doesn't shotgun in PoE 2. Like in PoE1.

Unless you're skill specify that it shotgun. But I've never seen that before.

If you mouse over the "Projectile" word in game in PoE2. It says :

"A Projectile is a moving Attack or Spell that usually impacts with targets when it hits them.

When a group of multiple Projectiles is fired from the same source at the same time, only one Projectile in the group can hit each target unless otherwise specified."


So no it doesn't increase the damage.

It increase the clear.

There are a few skills that interact in a way that it can increase the damage on single target, but not due to shotgunning. For example lightning Rod, it's the rod that chains once placed on the ground that can hit the same target

You can only "shotgun" if each projectile from a fireball that splits HITS a different target and their AOE overlaps...
It is VERY gimmiky to have a spell like fireball limited in that way IMO...Kinda defeats the point...

You can hit your own frost wall to induce a shotgun effect.
SPEAKING OF frost wall... Now that spell HAS no such limitation of a "single cast" can only hit a single target because it does not have the "projectile" tag...

So basically fire is JUST BAD. It has only one VERY sad and pathetic ailment that is only good for "cast on ignite"
The one thing Fire SHOULD have going for it AOE but it is out overshadowed by ICE with frost wall and comet...And the way to make fireball work decently REQUIRES using frost wall...

Firewall is somewhat good because it again works well spark, eye of winter...

Flameblast is kinda good, but it needs a dedicated build for ONLY it and there are no crazy items to make it
better like there are with again ice and lightning builds that can be used with a multitude of spells.


So Ice and lighting are the way to go.
You get everything... Literally everything.
Scaling, Overlapping, Faster cast speed more crit chance...
also CC with Freeze/Electrocute. Fire has no cc whatsoever to the point ppl convert it to ice... That is how bad it is...
Ohh and ARCHMAGE + Mana Tempest for insane scaling.

Basically right now.
Lighting is a 12/10.
Ice is a 10/10.
Fire is a 3/10.
Chaos is a 5/10.
That is why infernalist and warrior have basically no players...

I think fire, chaos, aoe/channel spells(aside from comet) are not fully implemented yet or have been mismanaged if this is their final version.
I am thinking they will get some love when the Templar and shadow are released...I hope...

Oh what am i saying Fire is part of the warrior kit THAT MAN NEEDS TO BE KEPT DOWN AT ALL COSTS!
