Blood Magic + Sanguimancy (Blood Mage)

Not sure if a bug or not, but I know someone posted a video saying Blood Magic + Sanguimancy should just erase the mana cost... so if a skill costs 10 mana, with sanguimancy its 10 life and 10 mana, and with blood magic should just be 10 life.

However on trying it this is not the case and it just costs 20 Life, basically paying both costs in life. Just a PSA incase anyone else was going to try this, and its not a bug since I think this is different than how it worked in PoE1:

Top is without blood magic, bottom is with blood magic, as a blood mage.

I just abandoned my Blood Mage, the ascendency feels terrible, it just punishes you for choosing it. All the power ups are conditional but the downsides are constant.

Completely unbalanced and not fun at all.
Totally agree. I'm at level 47, with 3 unused Ascendancy points. The way the class is designed makes no sense, and it feels like every time I add a point, I'm nerfing myself. It's not fun, and I'm constantly penalized while the rewards are minimal. I seriously hope they change it before launch day.
I am currently playing with a level 88 Blood Mage using this build. My level 25 Hexblast normally costs 163 mana, but due to being forced to use Sanguimancy, it ends up consuming 163 mana and 163 life. Since I couldn't balance my mana efficiency, I decided to use Blood Magic. However, this increased my life cost to 326. Without using Inspiration Support, the cost would rise to 550 life. This seems less like a bug and more like a balance issue.
In my opinion, Blood Mage seems to be intended to tailored to specific items and notable passives, not suitable for a fresh character. Generally speaking, BM is a design defect rather than being under development.
It's a huge steaming pile of shit.

It makes no sense and the fucking idiotic mandatory node is massive debuff that makes your character immensely worse.

Start over with it. What we have now is a fucking embarrassment.
It's worth noting that +2 maps are a dangerous thing.
They can cause players to get out of their depth -
playing maps that are too hard for the items they currently have. Herp Derp.
