stunning Titan

Good afternoon,

do you think stunning titan can be more or less okk?

with all this stun buildup and 50% more from small passives, it looks tempting.

I dont want to get severly discouraged on my first chgaracter.

cheers!

In my personal experience, it's very hit or miss, pardon the pun - I've got fantastic pack clear with Leap Slam to push enemies over the primed stun threshold, then Boneshatter with the AoE burst stun support, capped off by Herald of Ash, which lets me clear entire packs in a single combo, but on bosses I'm struggling a little, mostly due to being undergeared.

Current combo I'm trying to beat the Act 2 endboss with is Armor Break to max, Leap Slam to chunk the stun meter, repeat until primed, then Boneshatter. I also swapped my aura from Herald of Ash to Overwhelming Presence for that one.

Anyway, verdict is a Titan stun build is great fun but can be challenging in places. Also, don't pick the Crushing Blows ascendancy if you follow in my footsteps, it completely ruins Boneshatter because any hit that goes over the prime threshold automatically stuns.
I'm playing a stun-based Titan at the moment, and it does seem pretty neat. I've mainly been using molten blast with the attack speed support, proj speed support and either conc effect or fire infusion for clear. For single target, the default attack supportd by conc effect and brutality and overwhelm is great for building up stun. You can also use boneshatter once a target is stunned to get a strong finisher.

I've finished A2 and just got past the silverfist miniboss in A3, died ~25 times so far. I died twice to A1 boss, and was able to kill A2 boss deathless. Most of my deaths were the mastodon mini boss, a couple to draven and some early deaths when I was rushing in.

It has been a pretty fun build for me. On the passive tree, get stun build up nodes and two-handed nodes. Craft a forge maul followed by a studded great club then a temple maul. Look for some % phys, some flat phys and you should have a solid weapon.

Is that a bad thing? Being able to use any skill you want to trigger heavy stuns? I'm not sure I understand what the downside is.
Boneshatter can only use its secondary effect when it hits an enemy that is primed for stun; Crushing Blows will skip that state entirely, removing a major potential source of damage.

Crushing Impacts doesn't remove the primed for stun state, but it does fill up the stun gauge faster and ends up fast-forwarding through the primed for stun state in mmost situations.

I mostly do dps through exploiting heavy stuns state and I haven't seen any decrease in dps after picking up Crushing Impacts, even though I rarely get to see the primed for stun state anymore.

It does make Boneshatter useless though.

I also am really enjoying the Leap into Boneshatter. The whole combo into Boneshatter is effective and extremely fun. I really want to make this work. My only concern is how this build works on bosses. Boneshatter is useful on adds, but on a boss fight not too many opportunities to use the skill. Maybe a few times.

I would prefer to continue the stun buildup into Boneshatter combo, easily the most enjoyable imo. Question is how build into this further. I was thinking resolute technique. But beyond that wasn’t sure what ideal nodes to take to develop this further. In a way that crushing blows just simply isn’t better. if not that makes me think crushing blows is probably too good to pass up. Unfortunately that makes bone shatter not ideal far as i am aware.

Not having to prime mobs for stun and still getting damage boosts associated with heavy stuns seems like a shortcut, no?

Problem is that it absolutely ruins your mob clear.
Boneshatter releases a damaging explosion only if it hits an enemy that's primed to stun.
Crushing Blows makes it completely unusable.

Resolute technique is a must imo, consistency over crits is nice and it's right next to the Honourless node which is pretty neat.

Boneshatter was never going to be ideal imo since it cannot cause stun build up which means you need to use another skill to prime enemies for stun. That means any time you accidentally go over the threshold and accidentally stun something with your stun buildup skill, you're fucked out of the heavy stun bonuses.

Crushing Impacts removes that issue (and makes the build a bit braindead but hey, we're here to bonk, not to think)

It does make Boneshatter pointless, but it lets you use any other skill insteadto do both stun build-up + heavy stun. You can use Leap Slam for instance, it should improve mob clear (higher base damage, bigger aoe, more stun build-up, added mobility).
