no saving sound device preferences

everytime i start the game, the SOUND DEVICE is changed back to default.
changing it to the desired device and saving the changes does not work on restart.
EVERY TIME i start the game i have to manually reset the device to the desired one.
do you realize how annoying this is?

i can change and save the changes and it will use the chosen device until i restart. when i restart it goes back to default again.... and YES, i'm saving the changes...

this started happening to me in POE 1 a few months ago. IT HAD NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. so you definitely changed something that affected that.
it also DOES NOT HAPPEN in any other game or application. it only happens in POE 1 and POE 2, and started happening in POE 1 a few months ago (can't really say the exact date).

i opened 2 threads in the POE 1 forums with the same exact issue that were absolutely ignored.

i was praying this would not happen in POE 2, but i already see its also happening.

please fix this.
i can record a video if you need showing the process, but i think it's well enough described.

as i said, it had never happened before, and POE (1 & 2) is the only application/game where it happens.

i understand this is probably not a priority, since it probably doesn't happen to most people, probably only happens to a few of those of us who have several channels in order to stream only certain sound channels (which appear as devices, using Voicemeeter and all that stuff). but as i said, it also started happening in POE1 a few months ago, so please, at some point, look into this.

When you choose "Headphones" instead of "Speakers" the system doesn't even highlight the save changes button. You have to move a slider before the system thinks something was changed.

After you do that and relog it will revert to default sound selection (not the sliders those stay to where you moved them).

So the options are present, however, the results are not.
I also have this issue, or a very very similar one.

The client remembers the settings, until I click "Log In" then it resets it to default.
Tampering with the settings from here usually (so it works sometimes, just not most of the time) leads to getting no audio at all, no matter the settings. Restarting the client will make the game do its reset when I click "Log In" again and sound is back to the default device that the game wants.
Same problem here, I'm using a GoXLR Mini and i've setup the device to "Game (TC-HELICON GoXLR Mini)" wich is fine after setting it up.

But on each restart of the game the output device is set back to "Default" wich is "System (TC-HELICON GoXLR Mini)"

I've digged the problem a little more and here is the section [SOUND] of the init file "poe2_production_Config.ini" :

"
[SOUND]
master_volume2=100
sound_effects_volume2=100
ambient_sound_volume2=100
music_volume2=100
dialogue_sound_volume2=100
item_filter_sound_volume2=100
reverb_enabled2=true
mute_in_background=true
channel_count=high
chat_alert_sound_volume=100
cinematic_sound_volume=100
audio_device_id=Game (TC-HELICON GoXLR Mini)
mix_setting=headphones

That seems correct so i don't know why the saved prefrerences are not applied on game start...

Thanks to the dev for incoming investigations ;-)

Have a nice day.
Same here. Windows 10, standalone client.

edit: Default sound device in Windows is "Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)". I have to change PoE2 to "Digital Out (Realtek High Definition Audio)" every launch.

poe2_production_Config.ini shows:
audio_device_id=Digital Out (Realtek High Definition Audio)

If I select "Digital Out", sound still comes out of "Speakers", so I change to "Headphones" first, then "Digital Out":

Hi,

I found a solution, check here : https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3599901/page/2#p25737841

Hope this will help

Have a nice day
this does indeed work. but GGG should fix it regardless, because it only happens in both POE games to me. No other games without exception have this problem. So i assumed GGG just didnt update the game to those W11 changes. but yes, this solution works. I assume all the other games just do this process automatically.

Thanks for the reply.
