Merging Xbox and PC account

So yeah, I played on Xbox in the past. Have about 4 quad tabs, a currency one etc.

Started playing on PC fairly recently before this news and bought a few tabs.

I'm still unsure how to go through this process?

It seems it should be automatic, but I have my accounts linked to steam and Xbox
