My concerns about Witch in POE2

I loved the first Witch announcement! I’m personally a huge fan of summons, and I loved the idea that they would respawn on their own. The only thing you’d need to do is reserve some spirit. It seemed to me like a good and balanced concept.

However, I have concerns after watching the Path of Exile 2 livestream where the Witch's ascensions were revealed. As a big fan of the Witch in Path of Exile 1, I’ve always thought the ascensions were well-designed: one focusing on elemental damage, one on minions, and one on chaos damage and curses. It made sense to remove the Elementalist ascension in POE 2 since there's now an entire class dedicated to elemental damage.

But I’m a bit worried because there’s still no ascension purely focused on minions or curses, and the Witch will only have one more ascension to be revealed. This raises my concerns about what they’ll do with that final ascension. The issue is that, for those who want to play a minion-based build, there doesn’t seem to be an ascension that specializes solely in minions. Blood Mage and Infernalist seem to force you into casting spells, which changes the gameplay style. That’s not what I would prefer when playing a minion-based build.

So, what do you guys think they’ll do about these two missing ascensions? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Do you think they might add an entire class focused on summons?

There is no sense on worrying until the EA start.. then you will get a stronger feel if minions as a focus need more help or if the blood one will already have some aspects that help minions.

As far as I have perceived they seems to be making all ascensions on all classes to be more sidegrades than going an extra mile int he natural central focus of the class.

That's correct and this is their direction. They said about this many times. They want ascensions to be universal, not something that you have to pick if you want play some archetype, like Necromancer in PoE1.
On Probation Any%
