Buying early access while saying I prefer PoE1?
Hi,
is there some kind of GGG hosted survey to see interest in PoE1 vs. PoE2? I'm thinking of buying early access, because I don't have much else to play currently. But I don't want to buy it and send a message to GGG that I'm really excited for PoE2, because I think PoE1 will be a better game FOR ME. And by spending money on PoE2 it feels like I support their neglect (for lack of a more fitting word) for PoE1. I normally buy a supporter Pack 3 weeks into the league if I feel they did a great job, even though I have all the stash tabs I could want and don't care about cosmetics at all. If anyone of you got a link or statement, that would be awesome. Cheers Last bumped on Nov 22, 2024, 5:57:34 AM

I personally think poe1 will be like diablo 2 lod. The true believers will still play poe 1, while the overwhelming mass majority will evolve. I haven't personally heard of anyone outside of a few in this forum that have any interest at all in poe 1. The #'s on steam are around 10k active players in last 30 days.
Hey if people want to play an outdated game, power to them. They'll probably do a POE Resurrected in 20 years like d2r and it'll be popular for a year. It's a true shame for PSN players though. They're being held hostage to one platform. Such a shame. Last edited by CloudIVXX#4358 on Nov 21, 2024, 6:19:41 PM

There isn't anything like that - the MTX applies to both games so I guess you could just email them and let your preference be known?
But really, the solution is to just not to play PoE2 if you don't want to. The data they'll be gathering in the background will be what drives any of their decisions rather than people filling in forms. |

They will always have the player stats of who is playing which game and how much, and that is going to say more to them than what you buy, since all purchases are available in both games.
In fact, the POE2 supporter packs can be just looked at as GGG supporter packs with POE1/2 cosmetics and a free POE2 EA key. I expect players who like to light up the screen pushing one button will stick with POE1. From the advance info about POE2, I personally expect I'll fully transition to POE2. I prefer a game that takes less time to get to hard gameplay (where mechanics choices matter), and allows more personal experimentation instead of build following. Last Epoch has delivered this far better than POE1 ever has for me. The main reason I play POE1 is to enjoy the variety of unique league mechanics (favorite being heist and settlers). Most of the time I don't even play POE1 endgame, just enough to enjoy the league mechanic (or not). POE2 seems massively more to my liking, as it sounds like a harder more intentional gameplay style, where using the right skills for the moment actually matters, and will always be stronger than using just one skill. Further, the new gem system and easier respeccing is going to be gems and gearing less tedious and locked in, allowing more personal experimentation. (If I can do without path of building I'll delete POE1 immediately) It will probably still take too long to get to hard content, but if the campaign is racable it'll be fine. Frankly, no XP based PVE game has ever truly captured my attention, because they always degenerate into trivially easy XP grinds, and I want to be mechanically challenged without wasting 20-60 hours to get there... Which is why I spend 10x more time playing PvP like League of Legends. V-Rising, with it's zero-XP, skill-check based progression is the closest i've come to enjoying hard PVE RPG, but it has zero PVE endgame sadly. I should probably get into rogue likes, but they somehow don't satisfy like RPGs. |
