Gods be praised! Triggers confirmed in PoE 2!

I audibly let out a sigh of relief and threw my hands up in the air when Jonathan said "Cast on Ignite". That means that triggers are still allowed, even if a little more restricted, which I don't really mind. Looks like I'll get to play my trigger builds after all - the only thing I really wished for.

Even the rest of the livestream so far has been absolutely jaw dropping in every way. The trailers, gameplay and polish look absolutely sick!

Honestly haven't been this hyped in over a decade. Can't wait!

The gameplay variety so far is way beyond what I expected. Pretty insane.

I honestly don't mind. I'm so bored of PoE 1's gameplay loop and how overall dated it is. Only reason I stuck with it for so long is mainly due to CWDT builds. Not even kidding. PoE 2 has trigger builds - I'm happy to move on.

To be fair, we've known PoE2 will have trigger mechanics since the first ExileCon. Meta gems have always been a thing. The new system looks to be based on Energy, i.e. each trigger gem generates a certain amount of energy when its trigger happens (the counter Jonathan mentioned in the corner). When the energy tank hits cap, the trigger happens. From what I've seen of previews for current trigger gems, the easier the trigger is to...well, trigger...the less energy each individual trigger event produces.

Doubtless this will be gamed within microseconds of the EA dropping and people will still find ways to do CoC builds that throw twenty spells a second or such, but the overall idea seems to be that triggers are not supposed to be your primary method of harming enemies. Instead they're bursts of extra stuff that happens while you're otherwise executing your existing game plan.

Watch me. That's all I'm thinking about right now. Gonna be digging into it to find ways to make this work. Doesn't have to be as visually insane as I made it in PoE 1, but I will not settle for some dookie throwing.
