Remove Socket Colors in POE 1

It's a quite huge step with so much earnings and minimal downsides

downsides
Some uniques interacting with socket colors like Scaeva, Dialla's, minion gloves(cant remember the name).. ill become obsolete need updates.

upsides
Simply a ton.
Most of the socket color pressure espacially while leveling will be gone.
New players will adapt easily. There could be a lot of new players who want also try poe1 after poe2-ea.
off color gems in the late game will not be a problem anymore

there will be things to be done for other mechanics too like crafting bench, corrupting outcomes, syndicate, omen of blanching, droptables etc...

The original plan was to remove jewelers & Fusings from poe1, can't remember if chromes were originally in-scope for removal.
But instead of implementing this plan into poe1, poe2 was created instead.
Thus stating that there was already consideration for this implementation in poe1.

So we'll see how GGG decided to implement this in poe2, specifically for uniques that provide bonus based on colours. if it's a huge success, i could imagine this being considered for poe1.

Triad Mesh gloves (minion gloves) could be easily determined based on the colour of the socketed gems, instead of the colour of the socket.
Not sure how you'd implement diallas for example.
Braindead take. No thanks.

They know the system is poorly implented and clunky. Its why they are removing it in poe2.

It needs to go.
i like how some forummers are ousting themselves for being backward. poe2 solves so many old problems. but instead of asking for such improvements to be brought into the game, they like archaic and outdated gameplay mechanics to remain and easily insult people for wanting something better.

-1 NO WAY!

I hated coloring for years BUT that was years ago. Today coloring sockets has become so easy that I don't see anything wrong with the current state of coloring sockets.

I love it when I get to play with sockets and their colors, but that's probably because I don't stress about the exact colors. Instead I try to get few key colors to put important gems in, then adapt with the remaining sockets. I love there's some unpredictability with this approach.

I noticed how toxic and expensive it can get to get 6 off-colors, so I refused to go that route. I'd much rather play in a way that's enjoyable, and unpredictability and rng is part of that.

I do wonder though, if PoE1 could benefit from more restrictions to gems. For example the support gem limitation from PoE2, where we can socket each support gem only once. But that definately would need for players to commonly have like 3 six-links or something, or we still have the need to have the exact colors in the main skill setup.

tldr; sorry, disagree
for sure its easier now, but the thing is the entire gem system with its colours and links are truthfully mechanics used to bloat the game.

one can argue that its one of POE's defining features, thematically etc its really good.

but i ve played this game a decade. having to decide over gear upgrade or one that has better socket configs is tiresome.

colouring is way worse. to craft u need tons of resource. then when you finish crafting you get it 6linked then start colouring.

after a while if you're unlucky you dont get the colours that you want. feels bad.

after all that you have to choose between using a less powerful chest or to use it as is but with some of your supports unoptimized.

poe has a buttload of mechanics already. culling off some unnecessary ones can be a good idea.
